Has anyone out there compared fuel milage between the 06 fuelies and the 05 carbed models. I hear the fuelies are harder on fuel than the carbed, and I am wondering if this has anything to do with the thermostat selection for these two machines? What is the degree of thermostat in the two machines?

RX Warrior -04
A friend om mine has a -06 shorty and compared to my -04 Warrior where even at the pumps and often he has to fill a tiny bit more into his, even if I brake the trails and he's following my track.
I have ECP, Heavy Hitters and SLP-bolts in mine, he's done nothing.

well with an extra 10 horsepower you would expect it too be harder on gas, even though its FI

They are very close. In our group my 05 and an 06 would be very close at the pump. Flip-flop on who used more on several occasions.
BTW: Higher HP does not always mean more fuel. And we talking 12hp on a lighter sled.

In our group my 05 RX-1 consistently got a minimum of 10% better fuel economy compared to all of the 06 Apex sleds (3 of them).
The guys on the 06's were not impressed with their fuel economy, nor range and ran out of fuel several times. We also discovered that the Apex tanks have approximately 3 liters less usable capacity compared to the RX-1.
Another sled in the group is a MXZ 800 HO and it was running the same fuel economy as the the Apex's, but with the larger tank had slightly better range.
The 600 SDI's were top dogs in fuel economy, beating my RX-1 by about 10% consistently and the Apex's by about 20%. With their larger tank their fuel range was very impressive.
I don't know how the thermostats compare between the RX-1 and Apex.

last trip to gaspe we had three sleds
2005 rs venture touring 14.0 mpg 5000 miles on engine, 2006 atack 15.0 mpg 4000 miles on engine,
2003 rx1 16.5 mpg 5500 miles. this was on a 1850
mile trip in one week. mpg figures are averaged for the whole trip

Running a 05 RX-1 same trails and same gas as a new Attak (Bountyhunter's) we were within pennies on the next fill up.
i think allott of has to do with average speeds your running.if your cruising ay 35-70 most of the day the 600 sdi's and the vectors seem to do much better than the rx-1's or apex's.if your going 50-100 plus for allott of your day the big sleds will shine in the mpg department.
