For boost applications what should I be avoiding when purchasing fuel? Eg. Ethanol, lead anything else. My goal is 94 - 95 octane, so I was looking at Petro-Canada Ultra 94, is it good? Or is there something better?

Thanks

Not sure about abitiby but no matter what fuel you buy in or around canada, you are going to have a slight percentage of ethanol. I have not had a problem with any of the premium octane fuels I have run in my sled. I just try to stay away from the small mom and pop fuel stations so you dont run into bad gas.

There is no gas station so I need to haul my own. So instead of bringing up 5gallons at a time n adding Torco fuel accelerator to it, I would like to bring up a drum of higher octane. I used the fuel calculator and if I mix have 50/50 100LL & 91 it would be between 95 & 96. That should be good to go.

As for the Boost-it controller, I haven't had much riding time with it yet. But so far from what I see I like. It is easy to adjust, and simple. Make adjustments right on the trail with no other equipment.

I ran my sled at 14 psi and it was 91-94..if there was a petrocanada then it was.94..had no problems with it..like mounty said..no mom and pop stations for me..but it has a shim.and studs.my supper charger.

Not trying to hijack but there is an Iphone APP that lists all stations with ethanol free gas

Has anyone used Petro Canada Ultra 94?

I run that..but 91 seems to be the same..ran that for 2 weeks straight in gaspesie ..1500-2000foot climbs..and it ran great...heat is the killer..keep an I on that.Got a RX-1 rad on the back for xtra cooling..

Shell premium has no ethanol. Its only 91 octane.
I have petro 94 with a bottle of Amsoil 2000 series octane booster.

why do you need to add boost to 91..on less then 14psi..the guy that put on my MPI stage 2B said as long as I dont go over 14psi at sealevel, it was all good..maybe if you have no shim??...have had no problems with my sled with 2000km on boost...I really think that most people dont know what they need to know about these things.for me the most important is the A/F..richer means cooler and leaner means hotter.thats why I like my gems..have settings for many things..thats what its made for...this is what I get from this stuff..the mechanic that did my sled is also the guy that set the speed record for yammie..and invented the yamcharger...Gagne lessard is the place where it was done..they are good.. ;)!

Ran it at 3000 feet for a week at 18psi.( 11o race gas ).and it was great..just got to watch the heat and a/f..call these guys and ask them..they really know their stuff. :flag:

I just spoke with the guys at MPI, they told me to run race fuel at home 700 feet, when I go to the mountains run 50/50 mix. I am new at this. I am running 14 psi.

I was told the same..but they put a shim and also studs..which they said made it ok..but if you dont have these mods then for sure do that..
