WE DON'T PRODUCE OR MANUFACTURE ANYTHING IN THE U.S. ANYMORE. Ask yourself Why?

Unions make it too expensive compared to outsourcing.

Bingo. And it's not just the unions' fault - blame corporate America. They make more money by outsourcing.

Maybe we should pull this back to how it relates to the Nytro....

The sled market is soon going to get to the point where it was in the 80's. Basically nothing new year after year. I can't say that I minded it all that much since I was in high school and could only dream about buying a brand new sled. Back then I rode Polaris and the lack of change was pretty neat from the aspect of being able to update your old sled to the new sled standards.

The new Nytro FX is a cool sled but after the initial shock wore off I was a little less impressed. The 7.5 gal tank is a mistake IMO. The actual weight savings over my Vector are not terribly significant (especally with the mods I've done). I'm sure it rides and handles nice but I don't see it riding $10,000 better than my sled.

Unless I can get a smoking deal on one I won't buy. Even if I can get a deal, it still isn't a sled I can't live without. I'm actually more impressed with the 399lb Ski-doo TNT. But I'm not interested in going back to a two stroke and I'm pretty sure the sled will gain weight over the summer due to the normal "durability and reliabilty issues that were discovered after exhaustive testing". Same thing that happened with the Firecat and the Phazer.

Can someone tell me what age group, or target market FX Nytro RTX was planned for?

Not with certainty, but I can tell you two targets:

Younger, ditchbanging crowd. Often the most vocal, gets people brand-loyal to a sled at an earlier age. The first sleds I rode were Yamahas, and it does make a difference.

Crowd that is in the "I secretly love 4-strokes but they are still too heavy" segment. That is actually me, to a certain extent, minus the secret part. :tg:
Most of their lineup is still too heavy for me; this is the most exciting sled release I've seen from them since the SRX 700 (which is utterly painful in big bumps, and I speak from experience). I can't imagine what their sales are going to be like when they get a 550 lb wet 140 hp sled - they are not far off. I just hope they release it before calendar year 2009 when I buy my next sled. :tg:

Try canadian. We been grabbing our ankles for a while now

You save in all that health insurance you don't pay for[/quote
What's that got to do with the price of a yamaha snowmobile?......I don't think yamaha canada is paying for anyone's health care........Health care is why we pay higher taxes on everything including income tax.

Quit whining about the prise!

We will pay over 16000$ for the nytro RTX here in Sweden. And i think our friends in Norway pay eaven more!!!

U guys complain about taxes.... try 33% income taxes or alot more depending on how much u make.... And on gas we pay app 60$ to fill up the gastank!!! :o| :o|

U dont know what taxes are!!! U are lucky!

Man I wanna cut loose on this subject. :o| :o|

We've only been doing it to ourselves since '04. I don't have time to weed thru all of the "dream sled from Yamaha" and "what do you want to see in [next year]" posts at the moment.

Not sure what you're saying here....

More HP, Fuel injection, better handling, lighter, more comfortable, true ditchbanger, racing programs, etc... Year after year we want the bar raised, and then we complain about the price.

Initiated by a question, my point exactly,

This sled is geared towards the younger ditch bangers that are realizing a continuing transition to four strokes, similarly, as seen in the MotoX venues. Are dirt bikes inexpensive anymore? Heck no.

This sled, a spin off from race sled technology...$$$$$..., is targeted for the broad spectrum younger generation, "looking cool, image making creatures, that have no fear". Now they are going to "do it" with a new 4 stroke.

Now how cool is that?

The sled is fast, and comes with a pedigree from the "Yamaha quality, and durability reputation, Race Team".

The sled is able to take brutal punishment, and not have the motor melt downs like the previous 2 stroke ditch bangers.

With that type of pedigree a comes a price tag.

Whether Dad buys the sled, or if the young man, or woman, just has to have one, they in partnership, or alone, will find a way pony up the bucks to buy it, and call their own.

Bottom line: Those that want one will own one, even if the sled would cost even more.

I call it the: "I want it... with more dollars, than sense syndrome".

Remember when those hormones were in high gear, and you only had a couple of priorities in life, and they are not the same priorties you have now?

If so, this sled is probably not for you.
;)! :tg:

I'm starting to shop for a Nytro MTX, prices are pretty much equal with a 2008 800r Renegade, and the new 136" 700CFI Switchback is only about $500.00 less. Point is, they all probally cost too much................. but like it or not we'll buy the damn things anyway.

Dirk just wait till the end of next year and buy one someones Hardly used Nytro for dirt cheap! There are always suckers out there that are in need of cash or getting devorced looking to give there stuff away.. LMAO..

in 2 years ill be looking for a nytro..

It is targeted towards the BMWs (Blare Morgan Wannabies) The guys who cant race but wear race gear and stand up and ride the entire time trying to look cool..

YA BARRY IM TALKING ABOUT YOU!!! FOTFLMAO

New sled pricing is an outrage! Not sure what can be done about it, just griping. My personal plan is to hold on to a sled for 5 - 6yrs. vs. the 2 - 3 yrs. I used to average. I also cut back on buying accessories. I could better cope w/the pricing were it not for the problems we're ahving w/new sleds. Yammies are awsome but overheating, poor handwarmers, leaking chaincase covers, etc. It's frustrating but could be worse, Doo guys are getting fisted w/their $10K 800R sleds, too.
Sorry for the ranting but prices are skyrocketing & so is technology but quality, dealer & factory support are declining!
