My brother is buying my nytro in march. And I'm ordering a 800 e-tech...not sure which model yet...i'll see when they release them.

3000 miles and my exhaust donuts are totally shot, a-arm bushings are getting bad along with the ball joints. And the hyfax of course. I might as well have a 2 stroke and rebuild the motor every other year and not have to put up with the weight and changing the oil yearly.

Although my brother pays me to work on his sleds, so I'll still be working on it. Which isn't a bad thing, I dont mind it...its actually quite well put together and easy to work on.

I think I'll trade them off every 3000km

I was just talking with my dad about that... run it till the warranty is up and then trade it in. Damn snowmobiles. If it wasn't so much fun I'd give up and buy a polaris razor (I heard they are lots of fun).

I fired up the old '93 xcr 440 today, 4 pulls and she purrrs like a kitten and doesn't need to be wrenched on...haven't started it all winter. I'm gonna run her tomorrow just to get some new gas in it.

I had a RZR, they are not that fun.... I sold it and went back to 2 quads...

XP vs Nytro

Well I thought I would add my experience here. In 05 I bought a Vector, put over 5000miles on it and loved every minute. In 08 bought the REV XP800R, only put 1200 miles on it, but had lots of issues, one of the main ones being vibration. At idle, or low RPM feet used to go numb due to running board vibration. In 09 I bought the XTX, to date only have 1200 on it but it is 10 times the machine the REV was. This decision comes from seat of the pants feedback, not a major stripdown and comparison.

I purchased the REV just to try it, although it was fun to ride it did not feel as stable at high speed as the Nytro, and was way too loose on the trails for any hard riding. Both the Vector and the REV are sold now, and I will not be trying a Skidoo again ( I dont think)

My buddy bought an XP at the same time as me after 4 engines, 3 of which he has had to pay for, he now owns a NYtro.

Some of these post are funny, you would swear that every Ski Doo ever sold has BLOWN UP at least 10 times!! No other brand just SKI DOO LOL! Out of the dozens of people I sled with over the years I have known about four that have had an engine failure...1 Doo, 1 Cat and two Polaris.

Same here. Not a bomb fan but I know a pile of people that ride them with very minimal engine issues. Most the melt downs are due to running lean (backyard mechs...)

I had an RTX, and now I have an XTX and a XRS 600 Etech in my garage....I prefer the Ski Doo, without a doubt.

yeah I agree, most of my friends who blow up there motors are always messing with them. Triple pipes, twin pipes, modding the air box, running two year old gas, or holding them wide open across a lake when its -10 degrees (duh, kinda dumb). Guys on dootalk are always talking about running different jets and shimming the needles and bitchin there sleds blow up...well leave them alone. I like my two strokes running a little rich, I'm not a top speed junky or a racer so I can handle losing a few HP.

Now that the nytro motor has been out of a while its no surprise that some motors are letting loose. It just sucks that they cost so much to rebuild...thats what scares me.

I agree this DOO thing is blown (no bun intented) way out of proportion. DOO is number 1 in sales for a reason...

I know of one guy on a doo that hasn't blown yet. 6000 miles all original. I had 3 motors blow on me. Hes just waiting now to be towed home. I love my XTX. Doo is number one because of very loyal riders. Just like a Toronto Maple Leaf fan. Crap team but always sold out???

Yep, buy the advertising, dump the machines onto the market, and get bailouts from the government for the parent company when you need them. :yam:

Depends on how many miles you do per year.

800r or etec motor is only good for 4000-6000 miles before it needs a overhaul. any more and your asking for trouble.

XP chassis does not stand up to abuse as well as the Nytro, now some will tell you that the nytro bulkhead is weak. And that may be true. But near everything on the xp is weak.

As far as performance goes the XP will take the Nytro overall but your getting a sled that you shouldn't expect to keep for more then a year or two without problems. The Nytro will as a whole last longer. They both need standard maintenance tho.

I love my nytro and expect to get 4-5 hard years outa it. I do 2-4000 miles per year.

I'm in my 3rd year now and unless I fall into some money expect two more years outta it. When I was buying doo's 600/800, I didn't even expect to make it through year two without issue's. As I knew better.

Everything that you have said here is about oppisite for me, My buddy has an 09 Renegade with no chassis problems, we ride together alot and both ride the same. I have bent, broke and bust everything possible on my Nytro and he hasn't broke one suspension component. And the funny thing is when we were both racing and riding the same Polaris sleds he would bend and break things on them sleds before I would.

I have had my sled towed home twice, once with a broken oil chain in the motor and the other because of wires rubbing thru on the frame.

well the good thing is I can over haul a 2 stroke myself for a few hundred bucks. I'll over haul it every 6000 miles and it won't cost me anymore than what it would cost me to replace the exhaust donuts, a-arm bushings, ball joints and ten sets of hyfax on my nytro.

As far as bending and breaking chassis and suspension parts...that can happen to anything, anytime, anywhere. My dad bent another trailing arm today on a vmax 700... and he was only driving that instead of his polaris classic because the rear suspension was broken in it.

1200 miles on my hyfax and they still look good,If what your saying is true why not dump the Nytro and buy a 2 stroke? It would be more like 600 bucks to rebuild the top end of a 2 smoke. Don't forget the oil you will use,Throw that in the price
