I always wanted a Klim Yamaha suit but was never able to afford it until I found one on Kijiji. Took my chances after talking to the guy for about 30 min on the phone. Agreed to a C.O.D. shipment. To my surprise, It received in 10/10 condition. It's a layered type suit. Insulated bibs and a upper shell. He described it as a mountain suit???? I wear a base Under armor, my wife got me a mid layer from Royal dist for Christmas. Overall awesome. I feel the cold but I don't get cold is the easiest way to describe it. I can be fully layered indoors and not sweat then go straight outside and still be warm. Klim was the right choice for me.

I have both FXR and Klim suits, the FXR is very bulky, but as someone else posted, it is a floater suit for riding on the lakes. It's very warm but to bulky for an all day trail ride. The Klim is my choice for everyday riding. Fits great, blocks wind, and always keeps you dry on wet days.

I have both brands. I mostly just use my Klim jacket when Its really cold. But other then that I use my FXR one. I can get an uninsulated jacket for a lot less then klim wants that's why I picked FXR. I got a killer deal at haydays on a brand new in the plastic FXR jacket for $50. Cant beat that.

Where...in Canada?FXR is as or more expensive then Klim by the way..
Where I live the cheapest Klim is still more expensive than the highest price FXR.
If I was to buy again today or tomorrow . FXR - one piece suit . Yes I typed it,- one piece suit. Some of my friends think that would be nuts..
I go riding out in the cold with all Yamaha .

Klim for me. Whole suit. My boots are only 3 years old but would really like that new Boa system. I have not found a good pair of gloves from them though. I have some 15 year old Alpinestar gloves that have 3 seperate layers in them. Would love to replace but cant find them anywhere. Anyone?

I was wearing Castle X heated gloves till the wire came apart.. Under warranty then failed again. Fixed them , parts from Radio Shack . Then failed again . Not enough wire to work with , but great gloves ! Warm and water proof. Went with Fly Racing heated gloves. (Like when we are stop and gloves are warm when I put them back on) Fly Racing gloves work great so far with great connections. Love warm hands in the cold !

I went with Motorfist Redline gear this year, hope it works as good as I keep hearing! I don't think you can go wrong with any of the mentioned brands though, all good choices.

That's like saying Chevy is more expensive than Ford. Unless you are comparing specific models, that statement makes no sense at all. Not that I am disagreeing, it's just a silly statement.FXR is as or more expensive then Klim by the way..
Now if you picked out two comparable models of Jackets, Gloves, boots or pants and made the statement, then, at least you are claiming something that can be proven.
That being said, you may be comparing List prices, and it may be true. But FXR does not have dealer agreements that do not allow them to put things on sale. So you will find sales on FXR gear more often. Klim locks dealers into a price range unless that product is discontinued for the next year, then they are allowed to discount it as heavily as they choose. In general, I would say you will spend a similar amount on each brand, but the sales on FXR usually get it down more often.

I have been using motorfist for the past 2 yrs and am amazed. The suit is a complete system of under layers, liner and top coat and pants. At -35 I am warm and if I sweat 10 mins I am dry. The gloves are great to -35 but a bit bulky in warmer days
Yup bought some motorfist this year.
Incredible gear. It is rar beyond what i was expecting

I have a Klim coat, bibs and gloves......I can only recommend the bibs. The coat and gloves I only wear above 20 degrees.
God I miss the old Riema gear, that stuff was the BEST.

Every time I ride with my Klim or Motorfist gear I am constantly reminded of what it feels like when a company makes something darn close to perfect. The best compliment I can give to something like a jacket and pants is that I forget about them. Completely, forget about them. Not hot, not cold, just focus on riding. I absolutely love the gear, and consider it some of the best money spent for me.
I do have some FXR gear, but it's nowhere near the level of quality (but to be fair probably about 1/3 the price) of Klim. It worked fine, but wasn't the light technical fabric available now. I wouldn't say a bad thing about them for sure, just that maybe they are more of a comparison of a Chevy to a Honda? Same, only different. But you'll pay for the difference, and probably feel it was worth it paying the extra. But them again, you'll be very happy with the Chevy too...

The guys that have trouble with Klim typically aren't layering it properly.

I typically ride with only under armor cold gear pants and shirt underneath my suit. I find I'm not hot when getting dressed indoors, very comfortable when tooling around outside and on the side of the trail and still comfortable while behind my windshield while riding. If I stand up for long periods on a moderately cold day, I can feel the suit material get cool, but I quickly warm up with only a couple minutes back behind my windshield. The suit is completely wind and water proof (I've tested it, the hard way...). On really cold days, I add fleece pants and shirt and am completely content sitting or standing while riding. The fleece layer adds just enough that I can't feel the cold material when riding 50mph while standing even at -25F.
As far as gloves, I wear Olympias gloves. They were great the first 6 years but aren't warm anymore. They are fine for moderate days, but not so good for those -teen days. I've been so happy with my Klim suit that I'm probably going to try their gloves. Same with boots as my felt liners are wearing out in my current boots.
