Gas leak under seat

Getting a new gas pump gasket tomorrow- if I blow air into gas tank from the top end where the overfill tube is, will this help me identify where the leak exists around the gas pump cover or is this a very stupid thing to do - is blowing air into the gas tank very stupid?

Blowing air into the tank to find the leak is probably OK. Can't think of any reason it would create a problem unless you use too much pressure.
