Gas tank vent whistling?

Hey guys I went for a ride a few days ago and when i got back i shut machine downand had A whistling sound for about 30 seconds!
About 20 minutes later I turned the machine on (not start) and the whistling started again while the fuel pump was priming??
The fitting on that gas tank vent is the black one not the smaller red!
I traced the vent and there is no obstruction or kinks!
I sent a recording to Hammer(ty member ) hope he while post it for me since I can't post pics or videos here!

Do you also get the whistle when turning machine on cycling the fuel pump?

Does the noise only occur when you were sitting on the seat? Or does the noise occur when you’re off the machine standing beside it?

Mine does it but only one I’m sitting on the seat. The noise you hear is the fuel tank Venting air... this is normal

It does it when i am standing beside the machine (both when shutting off machine and priming fuel pump

Its typically after the machine has been running so the tank has time to pressurize. So yes, i have taken it as normal! lol

This is different from what mine does mine only makes that whistle noise when you’re sitting on the seat with or without the engine running

It’s normal. The tank is meant to hold a certain pressure per EPA rules to keep vapors in.

When it vents it whistles as the air goes past the pressure relief built into the tank vent.

Hi Knapp thanks is it normal to get whistling when the fuel pump is priming also?

Yes it can vent at any time either in or out. Also, will whistle if you want to call it that as fuel runs thru the regulator and return system.
