I know the trick to turn on the lights/gauge without starting the sled ....
have kill switch on, hold down thumb warmer, turn key on, wait 8 secs for everything to light up
I've done that routine a million times, works flawlessly - except recently. I've been prepping my sled for the seaon, and the trick doesn't seem to work any more. The sled starts and runs fine, but I can't get things to light up without starting the engine.
Any ideas?

Never heard of this one before, what sled are you referring too?
Curious if it would work on my 08 Vector?

Yup it works. Funny to see a snowmobile in the dark with the lights on and not hear the motor running. Sometimes my Vector will not work but most of the time it works fine.

Maybe a weak battery?
Or did you install HID lights?
Or did you install HID lights?

Sled is an '06 Nytro.
Battery has been on the trickle charger all summer long. The battery turns over the engine just as strong as day one. No HID light either.
The trick has worked a million times in the past. It puzzles me why after all of a sudden it doesn't work anymore.

VERY COOOL!!! Does this work on the FX NYTROs or Apex's. It sucks starting a sled for 10seconds just to be seen at night on the side of a trail

Just went out to try that ... The thumb warmer goes up/down just like it should when the sled is running.

I believe it works on the carb 3 cylinders only.I have never tried it on my fx nytro or the efi vectors though. It does not work on the apex.

You mention the kill switch is on? Shouldn't it be in the up position?

Yes - it is in the UP position ... meaning turned on.

I fixed it this weekend. I started by trying to troubleshoot the relay. The connections all looked good (no corrosion). But I put some dielectric grease on anyway, and now it all seems to work fine.

When you have the lights on and you want to turn them off how does that work?

That is good to hear you fixed it. Thanks for your thread as I didnt know about this trick and tried it out on my RS Rage. I have less miles on my sled than I thought
