No power at fuel pump and gauge pod

So all good so far after cleaning and reconnecting?
Yes started several times since the initial no start. Nothing looked really dirty. Took a wire brush to the battery, starter relay, and ignition switch. Fuel pump cycling and power to the gauge pod each time

Perfect. It happens. Could have been a loose connection as well. But at least you got it.

Lots of Yamaha 4 stroke starts since 2003, first time this type of problem for me. Lots of reliable starts over the years.

Just some follow up to this post last year. Same issue on first start after sitting all season. Turn key fuel pump doesn’t cycle and no lights at the dash. Cycle key a few more times and suddenly power to the dash lights and fuel pump cycles. Turn key and fires right up. Tried a few more times and no issue. When it happened last year I checked battery connections and cleaned up the ignition switch and never had a problem the rest of the season.
Unusual this has happened 2 seasons in a row after sitting all summer. A connection somewhere must be dirty/moisture until the key is cycled a few times. I’m guessing like last year I won’t have any other issues, but would like to diagnose the issue. Certainly don’t want any starting issues during the season. Any idea, just an issue from sitting so long?

Try a new key ignition. Might be corroded inside ignition switch.

Strange how it’s only happening on the first start of a new season after sitting all summer. Probably had a 100 key cycles after the problem last year and no issues the rest of the season. It’s just like turning the key with the kill switch on and nothing happens, no lights or fuel pump.

Are you talking about #41 in this diagram?

Yes. Inside gets corroded.
Thanks for the quick response. Certainly worth replacing, part isn’t too expensive. Likely won’t know if it’s the problem till this time next year after the long summer nap
