04 rx-1 270pd rider, Just curious if i should drop the top gear down one just looking for opinions,,the sled has the following mods, m-10 w/ohlins pioneer wide front end ,shocks, stabalizer. air filter kit, jetted, bender exhaust, 1 1/4 fully clipped predator. 144 down the middle,, stock clutching ..what do u guys think?

thanks just wondering is the track spin worth the gearing drop

I have an overdrive clutch and went down 2 the low end it pretty massive now and mathmatically I should have the same top end as stock. I would think 1 tooth for your weight would be OK stock clutched. I think it depends on trail riding or lake racing. With the suspension mods you have listed it sounds like your a trail rider and want to get from one corner to the next quicker than the other guys not worrying about 3MOH on top on the lake.

yes gear down you won't lose any mph you may even gain some top end along with the accelleration becaue the rx's are a little over geared

gearing

Since we're on the topic, I was also wondering if my gearing should be changed. It still has whatever gearing came with it from the factory. It is clutched and filtered without studs. Rider is 220#. The clutching and filters seemed to give it better bottom end, but almost seems as if it's a tad slower on top. Unlike most here, I would welcome more top end vs. holeshot.

your not gain any more op end by gearing up and less you add more power to the engine. The filter seem to slightly take some top mph way.

I HAVE WORRIER AND I LOVE MY GEARING I WENT DONE FROM A 23 TO A 22 AND A MADE A BIG DEFERENTS IN MY MIDRANGE POWER AND A DO HAVE A FULLY CLIPPED TRACK AND FILTER KIT AND :-o VELOCITY RINGS BIG POWER BABY

too fast I havent had anything to fast yet LOL JK Hey did you notice a big difference with your rings how hard where they to put on any special tips or tricks? I got mine but havent put them on yet. Did you glue them to the carb and then put the filters back on them using the hose clamps?
