How about a new FX Nytro powered by two YZF450 motocross motors? A 900 twin, not a triple, not a four cylinder,???
I have in my garage an 05 Vector, 06 Apex GT, 07 Apex RTX.
I've riden the 500 cc Phazer.... not enough.....
I've riden the new 08 FX Nytro, nice....but.....
I'd like a lightweight twin but in that 125-150 hp range
With a few different HP options...
Been a Yamaha Loyalist since the original SL-350 (1967-68)
SL-351 (1968-69) and SS-396 (1969-1970)

i think its already been stated that a 900 twin would weigh the same as the 1050 tripple, due to the conunterbalancer needed for vibs..id rather have a smooth tripple..

What didn't you like about the new nytro as compared to your vector?

I too crave a lite-weight twin with more power than the phazer but I'm prepared to wait. The new tnt will pressure yamaha to keep dropping weight, hopefully not at the expense of quality.

I like the FX Nytro...enough to add it to our existing fleet. but I rode a properly set up Factory prototype, not something out of the crate. I was still very impressed... I loved it!

If you rotated the #2 cylinder 180 degrees from the #1 cylinder, you could run the two pistons on opposite throws, so you could do away with the counter-balancer and still have a silky smooth engine. The reason for this is that the two pistons would always be moving in OPPOSITE directions. With a 4-stroke parallel twin, the two pistons are always moving in the SAME direction. The big problem here is, of course, fitting it.

Trivia: The crankshaft was invented in IRAQ.
