Just wanted to say this because it always seems that some things happen and it's always too late to say goodbye.

Just heard about the girl who was ejected from the sled she was riding and was killed by the next snowmobiler who hit her.....very sad.

I just spent the last 4 days saying goodbye to my brother in law in Iowa, who taught me a lot about life. He was diagnosed with a very rare disease where his body refuses to accept nutrients from any type of food intake and has now spread arround his heart, his lungs, his bone marrow and will die in a few days. He has accepted his dying and is mentally all there, but his body keeps going downhill. Was priceless to sit and talk with him.

A man who taught me how to earn a dollar, how to invest my dollar and be a man, friend and talk to people. Along with that, he always treated everyone with respect and passed that respect on down to my boys. So many stories I would love to share as he is one of the best.

So with my heavy heart...I tell everyone to say "I love you" to your wife, sons, daughters, uncles, sisters, brothers, grandpartents....etc., as you never know when their time is up. I hear so many times, "I wish I would have told them...." now is your chance. I am so glad I was able to make the trip to see my brother in law alive for the last time.

Hope all of you had a Merry Christmas and to all....Happy New Year!

Sorry to hear this, NOS-PRO. It is always hard to lose someone that is close to you. For me, my father and my Auto Tech instructor at college have been my biggest influences in life. My father is still here but my instructor died of a heart attack 29 days after he retired a couple years back. We always enjoyed talking about everything from classic cars to how the relationship he had with is son was parallel with my relationship with my Dad. My two boys are named after both of them. Thoughts and prayers with you and your family through the next couple of difficult days, weeks, months and years to come.

Thank you Cummins6.7pwr..... Means a lot, believe me

Sorry for your families loss. The older we get the more we have to deal with this stuff. It doesn't seem fair.

Thank you bud! I agree....not fair sometimes

Thank you for sharing, this is terribly sad news and a reminder I needed to hear. I'm glad you had the opportunity to spend some time with him. Life should never be taken for granted.

Thank you snowman :) You said it perfectly

Update - Brother-in-law passed away last night at 8:25pm. He went peacefully with his wife and daughter by his side.

Charlie was well known by a lot of people who fished as he along with my sister owned "Shuck's Bait and Tackle" in Milford, Iowa. All the days spent fishing with him was a joy, but the most memorable was when my 2 boys, myslef and Charlie went out in the boat and all Charlie and I did was take fish off of the hook Non-stop for 3 hours. He knew where and when to find fish that were biting. It's priceless moments like that which my boys talk about :)

His legend lives on as a few years ago, he and my sister started to make their own jigs for fishing. The list of stores who sell his lures are far to numberous to list, but I know he is looking down and smiling :)

RIP Charlie

So sorry for your loss... Recently, my perspective on life has had a dramatic change as well. Couple weeks back, my riding buddy's 5 yr old grandson was diagnosed with stage 4 DIPG which is a brain stem cancer that affects young children. He is the same age as my oldest son. Doctors only gave him 6-12 months to live if radiation and chemo work. I am the President of my local sled club and on Feb. 7th we put together a pancake breakfast/silent auction benefit for the family and raised over $40k for them. The money is one thing, but having the entire community come out and show their support was just awesome. The show of support helped the family more than the money ever could. I know that since this diagnosis, the little things about parenting have not bothered my NEARLY as much as they used to. Prayers to your family, NOS-PRO.

Very sorry to hear of your families lose.

Thank you guys

Cummins - I couldn't agree with you more about how much the show of support means so much..... The money helps with certain things but the love, support and help is priceless!

So sorry to hear this Terry. Sounds like he had a major impact on those around him. all for the good. Google Luke Bryan's song. Drink A Beer. Chokes me up hearing it. Makes me remember a LOT of good people that are no longer here. Godspeed to his family!!

Sorry to hear this sad news Terry. I make sure every day to tell Mama and the kids how much I love them. The one thing most of us don't do is let those who are our friends know we care about them everyday too. Sending you and the boys a special prayer tonight friend.

Thank you Dave and Paul.... You guys have known me for a long time and know how big my heart is. It's great friends like everyone here that make it big, caring and strong :)

So sorry for your loss Terry. His legacy will be there every time you hang one of those lures on a line. Know that this TY family will always be with you too. May God carry you and your family through these hard times knowing he is in a better place now. We all need these reminders once in awhile as we take too much for granted in our everyday lives, thank you for that.
God bless,
Gary
