Just wanted to mention some new info for any of you that followed the top end bog I got when I first went to a single glasspack. The story is I had a bad top end bog....lost 1/4 of my throttle. Changed to my modded airbox from the ECP's just to try something different but bog was still there. Had a new pipe without louvers welded on and it went away!! I was happy, the sled was ripping, and there was peace in the middle east.

This week however, I decided maybe I should put the K&N's back on and give it a whirl. They are lighter ya know:) However, went out Friday and sure as $hit....the bog was back. We had 33"+ of fresh powder and I had to play mellow because I had no top end!!!:( That night I switched back to the modded airbox and it ran strong again. This is not conclusive because I was not running in that deep of snow but sure seems like my K&N's don't like the glasspack or something.

Hope this helps someone.

Used to run 165's, then tried 162.5 and 160's and was still there. I think there might be something wrong with the filters, maybe a leak or something in one of the gaskets.

Wow,
We really only got about 20-24" end of last week in the Mt. Hood area, and that only above about 4500'.
Now its raining again in Govy. Interesting winter. I think I could ride my dirtbike up to about 3.8K in most places on the east side of the mt.

Still haven't done anything with my airbox/exhaust. Appreciate the jetting info though. Did you look at your plugs after the other day?

Had the same prob with the glass pack and ecp, went back to stock box and one clip richer in the mid range all is well.Easily outruns 800s and is in the mix with the 900s. When it gets hot and high jet 2 sizes down and use the gold / yellow springs . Glass pack and ecp was a pain in the....... to finicky with temp and alt changes. Stock slightly mod airbox with Glass pack works well.

So much for getting a single pipe I guess?

Are Yoshimira or Vance and Hines pipes as finicky about carb filters?

I'd like to go to a single pipe but plan to keep my filters. The filters are dialed in so taking them off to start tuning my jetting back to an airbox and a single pipe doesn't sound too appealing.

Cna't we make this simple :exc:

I would say the filters make the motor finicky. With my pipe and stock airbox and clutching I have better performance than with filters. Every exhaust is a bit different if you leave the stock cross over and run both lines from there to the single pipe up top it is less noticeable. bottom line you will spend a pile of time tuning filters or 1/2 hour with stock airbox.
PS; the single pipe sound is worth throwing out the filters, and I lost almost 20 pounds.

Yup, that's the appealing part.

What pipe are you running Powdermuncher?

I guess I want it all. I would prefer to be able to run filters (which save weight) and go to a single pipe (which also saves weight).
