im thinking about making a glass pack exhaust for my rx1 and have some question. here is a link of the one im thinking about ordering

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Magnaflo ... 0229QQrdZ1

is this the right kind of muffler? does the length of the glass pack affect the tone? what tone should i expect from this one?
i have the stock exhaust to use the Y in the for the glass pack. do i take the stock exhaust and the glasspack in to a muffler shop or can
i weld it myself? can you weld stainless steel? thanks
chris

If anyone is interested in trying a single without hacking their stock setup....I am going to sell my welded glasspack since I went ahead and ordered a turbo. Probably sell it for $80 which is what I paid. Should be piece of mind for someone that isn't sure.

Cool! I checked the heights between the 10 and the 12 and it says they are the same. That looks pretty easy. Thanks for the pics! I was just nervous because when I tip it over it always takes about a minutes to crank up and that was worth the extra pound for the security to me.

A three inch O.D. will fit with 1/4 inch clearance on top, and supension at stock height. Any bigger you'll have to drop the suspension. That may or may not be an issue.

Believe it or not it's quieter. I've had a whiteknuckle, excell, and an MPI on our sleds and I had been wearing earplugs ever since the stock exhaust came off. Because they dump up and out the back they rattle your head and hurt your ears at certain rpm's. The glass pack is little quieter than the excel from the back but is almost like stock from the riders position. You can actually hear the motor noise, chaincase wirring, and even the skiis cutting through crust. No more earplugs. Never painful. We started using Collett helmet radios on our last ride. The stock two strokes kept setting off their voice activation, but our three rx1'as had no problem. I even heard my outer chaincase bearing going out the other day, before it got bad. Deep snow it's quiet from anywhere. When the snow is hard, they are like the video. Not quite as bad as a piped 2 stroke, but they carry. It amazes me that yamaha hasn't dumped them out the bottom yet. Much easier to control the sound and cleans up the tunnel.

No idea. All three of ours have the same 12 inch muffler. 3in o.d., 1 3/4in i.d., Makes sense that a longer one would be queiter, but a shorter one tucks up in the tunnel further and might be quieter because of it's location.
