My brother (a BRP tech) has hooked me up with a 600 renegade X from a client of his. C&A's, 1.75 track, Boss seat, adjustable risers, Aaen pipe, etc etc. He just freshened up the motor with new pistons, rings, seals etc (although the engine was just about perfect anyways). Got it for $5k and it is beyond mint, I'd say it's cleaner than showroom because the owner was anal. We're taking the Phazer apart for a full service and it's for sale. I just can't justify spending any more coin on it when I can save 60 or more pounds and gain 40+ hp and have better fuel economy. I'd like to stay Blue but it would mean a Nytro (no way) or spend thousands more on the Phazer to make it do what I need it to. Just can't rationalize it. It was a good run and a fun sled but she can't take the abuse and certainly can't run with the 2 strokes. If Yamaha sorts out it's woefully inept chassis and suspension and builds something worthy of those great engines I'll be back in a heartbeat but I just can't spend another winter replacing broken suspension and steering components. Not retiring from this wonderful site yet, but as I purdy up the 600 I'm sure I'll move on. Have a great winter everyone, be safe out there!

Good luck a sled has to be able to perform like a guy needs it to. I just can't bring myself to DOO the oil smell thing again.

What's the $ on the phazer?
Not sure yet. Gonna check NL Classifieds to try to get a feel for prices. Mine's pretty tricked out, don't know if that adds to the value or not.

e-tec. no oil smell.

not the ones around here.

ruckus, since your tearing it down, you going to sell any of the bolt on stuff?
enjoy your new ride.

sent you a pm.

I have been tempted by the doos also a mxz 600 carb. Is lighter and more power with close to the mpg. If Yamaha doesn't hurry up and make a 100 hp phazer in the next year or so I may be riding yellow also. Not because I don't love the phazer I just really want that extra kick. :-(

I loved my phazer! After 2.5 seasons I sold it and bought a brand new leftover 2010 TNT 600 for last season. I sold it in March. The thing cornered like it was on rails, but Ski-doo clutching sucks and I was never really happy with the performance with the crappy clutching. If you are looking for more engine than your Phazer, I would move right to the Etec. I'm trying a leftover 2011 Rush Pro-R this year.

The problem with the etech or the rush is the price. I just can't bring myself to pay over 10 grand for a sled. But I suppose if Yamaha does decide to own the competition and bring out a 100 hp phazer it will be over 10 grand so I guess im damned if I do and damned if I don't.

I can't see paying over 10 grand for a 2-stroke anymore. Would love the lightness and handling but I guess it boils do to if you want an engine which will outlive the chassis or a chassis which will outlive the engine. I can do alot of chassis/suspension mods for the price of one engine rebuild on a doo.
As sleds get more expensive, reliability becomes more important for me.
