I have had alot of people say to me..."gee the new Phazer looks trick, too bad it doesn't have more power." My question is, "has anyone compared it's performace against any midline 2 strokes such as 500cc etc? I was just wondering how they perform against the competitions sleds as we speak. I have heard quite a few brand X riders say they'd buy one in a heartbeat if it had 120-130 HP with the same weight. I will be test riding one Sunday at Pat's in Greenland, MI but we have bigger cc sleds in our group to comapre against. If I like the handling and ride, I may consider this type of machine next under the same conditions I just mentioned. :4STroke:

"There is no replacement for displacement" and there is no substitute for horsepower!
The machine is meant to be lightweight, not a powerhouse.
If my old 380 had 120 horsepower I'd like it much better too! But it is unreallistic in the very near future. In ten years I expect to see what people are asking for, today. That is why it will be here, but not overnight.
The sled in my opinion is surprisingly powerfull FOR WHAT IT IS!!!! I switched to a Venture Lite from a hot 2000 500 xc/sp, and I get to ride my buddy's FX all the time. The Phazers are fun machines, and in the low and mid range hold their own against even bigger sleds (600 2 stroke), but as far as top speed or pulling the skis 4 feet off the ground at 50 mph, NO WAY! But we go back to WHAT IT IS. And for me that machine is the perfect Friday Night Blaster. I would not buy one because it has ZERO utility factor, but we go back to WHAT IT IS, and that is why I chose the Venture Lite. Because IT IS a multi-purpouse sled.
Hope I helped! ;)!

I would compare it to an old Exciter 570 (87-92). My 93 SX and my phazer are about equal in acceleration. (BUT my 93, has the 75 HP cylinders in it from an 88).

The new Phazer handily walks by a 485cc fan Phazer...

Any new 500 liquid, with VES will beat it. Sno Pro 440's beat it easily. It's right between a 500 liquid and 550 / 440 fan cooled sled. Yup, that's where I would put the Phazer.

It's in a league of it's own really...

That sounds about what I was thinking. Thanks mars........

I've heard some people claim that it will hang with 700 & 800's off the line up to 50mph or so.

I switched from a 550 fan to the Phazer, definetly more get up and go in the new Phazer and definetly mroe top end then the 550. Under the exact right conditions I could get my 550 Supersport up to 70 MPH on the speedo. I have seen for myself, 85 MPH on the GPS on the Phazer. The 550 was probably really doing 65-68 MPH.

I'd love to race a 500 xc/sp it would be close on the top end but I think the xc/sp would slowly.... pull away if it caught up :), on the bottom end I know I would leave the xc/sp at least 1-2 sleds behind to 50 mph. If your in the Thompson / Wpg area and you got one lets go for a ride I would love to see the difference.

I know I can pull ahead of my father inlaws GSX 600 SDI off the line somewhat consistently, when theres traction on the trails anyways, by about 1 sled length to 50 mph then he goes by, but not as fast as you would think for a 120 hp machine. If I can get another 10 MPH on the Phazer top end, I think I would hang with him all the way through as his top ends realisticly 95 MPH or so.

Would I really need another 40 HP to get 10 more MPH out of my sled? No, thats the beauty of the 4 strokes torque. I think 100 HP Phazer would tango with just about any other 120 HP machine out there in all areas including top end assuming they kept the same weight.

IMHO,

-Steve

i was riding with bigger sleds on the trails and they couldn't keep up with the phazer fx, you can whip that machine around all day

Rode with a mxz500 (liquid, Rave Valves). The phazer out pulls him on acceleration and top end was the same. The bottom end pull is compareable to 600. Makes it a great trail and ditching sled as most riding is done in its sweat spot of 40-60mph.
