Hey,
I am going to look at a buddies phazer next week and wondering what useful tips I can get from the forum before doing so. I have known the guy a long time and he is a sled head, but I have been out of sleds for 5 years now. He said he will let it go to me for 3500 canadian which is 2 grand less than any other ones I have seen within an 8 hour drive. This is the info I have on it now

2007, not sure the package but its what ever the highest is, as all the decals are removed it has the remote resivoir adjustable shocks. i had all shocks (front and rear) compelatly re-built and re-valved
(said it was borderline dangerous to ride before doing so).
2400ish kilometers, a fmf pipe, brand new c+a skiis, a new track (1 1/4") a rear tunnel enclosure kit, aftermarket front/rear bumpers, tag bars, aftermarket headlight kit. it has some aftermarket stuff in the rear skidframe. it comes with the stock exhaust and a extra rear susp arm. the sled itself is in really good shape, not MINT, but good. there is one crack in the one small plastic panel, and a crack in the tunnel. both of which were there when i bought it. the one in the tunnel looks kinda shitty but didnt move over the last year

sound like an alright deal?
Thanks and hopefully I can get on board with the TY 4 stroke team this winter

so you bought it or still looking?

sounds like he's got some money into the machine.

if it doesn't have reverse it's a base model, if it matters to you.

i'd look at the normall wear points & check out the rear skid. check the pivot point where the shocks meet, rails, & front h-arm for cracks.

other than if he has done the updates & maintaining it, go for it & ride the snot out of it.

decent mileage, good price and all the right add on

The only thing that would concern me is the tunnel crack.

Can you get a picture of it?

Check to see if it had a radiator fan added. The GT's and FX had a factory plug in the harness for the fan. The base model did not have the plug in the harness.

Also check to be sure the the front arm update was done. The arm has gussets across the corners and there will be an aluminum billet lnkage link.

He is out of town until tuesday, So i will go see it next week so I cant get a photo of the crack. I figure even if it is small I will get someone to weld it just to make sure its not going anywhere.
I am pretty much sold on the sled I think as its what I want and cant argue with the price but if I find things wrong with it then I could probably get a lower price.
I am not sure about the reverse, but am also not worried about it.
Where would I look for the rad fan plug? Should it be sticking out of the harness near the rad?
Is the updated arm the one with the gussets and aluminimum linkage?
Also what am I looking for when I check the skid? Just making sure there are no cracks or obvious defects?
Thanks a lot for the advice and I will keep you posted

fan plug--> take off rad. side panel & look for the wire loom tied to the subframe. should be close to top of radiator.

skid--> yes, cracks & bent parts.

Also take a look to see if there are any bolts in the skid have backed out a bit and ovaled the holes.

BOUGHT IT !!!
I bought the sled Monday night. I am going to pick it up next week and will post photos and lots of questions then.
Thanks for the help
