I am heading west 3rd week if Feb and want to change the track to accommodate a 2" paddle. I am running an 06 RTX mono skid extended to 136". We are going to CDST area so will be pretty high 8000' or so.

I currently run a 136 x 1.5" ripsaw with standard drivers geared down to 23T on top and am very happy.

I need help deciding what track to get. I am leaning toward the Challenger 9842M 136x2 or the 9797M same size. Should I go with the 9842 which is notched? I have already removed the tunnel protectors except at the front heat exchanger. The 1.5" rip saw clears the front exchanger protectors by about 1/8". If I do the notched track will it clear the front heat exchangers with the standard drivers? Can I remove the protectors on the front heat exchangers? Looks like they are welded on and I would damage it if I remove them.

If not I really want another drive shaft with extroverts pressed on it to allow quick changes for my once a year trip out west. Who would be the best resource for this and what size drivers should I get? I am thinking Hartmann would send me the correct shaft with drivers. Does the stock RX-1 have 9" drivers? Then 8" should clear right?

My next question would be about gearing. I geared down to 23T on top for the track. I shouldn't need to change that I assume, but anyone with experience please jump in.

Lastly, clutching. I have Ulmer stage III clutch so I know I can call him to get it adjusted, but anyone done this themselves to offer any advice? I know I will have to remove some weight, but how much?

Lots of questions and I hope lots of answers.

Thanks

Otis

Depending on the elevation we started out at 6000 feet I pulled all the weight out of the supertips and put in stock helix and put yamaha white secondary spring in at 80 degrees in and geared down quite abit and I still was only pulling 10000 rpms on the flat.It felt kind of slow about like a 600,until I hopped on the rental sled polaris 600 rmk, then I couldnt wait to get back on my sled.

In case you didnt see my post about the 2" track questions you have heres a link

I would gear down more than a 23 top youll have to pull the chain case any how to swap the track.I think the fastest i went out there was 90 mph.Its not like here where you can actually see the trail because of the dirt down the middle.

If the conditions arent right out west you can see that your comming up to a hill but youll be amazed at howfar you go towards it before you feel the sled start to make the climb.Everything is white, you wont see drop offs comming up.I guess they make gogles to help with the snow blindness and ill be definatly getting some for next time.Only the first day we had decent vision.

I have a pair of gogles that are self tinting I was amazed at how dark they got out there(never seen them that dark),I tried flipping them open to see better but without then it was much worse.

Maybe it's just me because I'm cheep, but I would run the track you have. I have a RX1 Mountain with a 1 1/4 x 151, and a stock Attak that works fine. I can do alot of mountain climbing and boondocking with. Yes the 2" track was maybe a little better, but not worth the money and time to change. Thats MY 2 cents worth.

If you can find 8 tooth drivers get em it will fit with the 9,s but you have to have the track rotated just right to get drivers up into place.Getting 9 tooth drivers in for me was pretty easy but it was kind of a pain getting them back out, took me about ten minutes just to get the drives back out when going to switch back to 1.25" track.

Steve,
Can you give me some more information on the jetting and carb settings you used while there?

Otis

This is what I run out there. We stay at MacKinze Highland Ranch. Gearing is 24-40, Secondary spring is "white" and twist is 80 degrees. 45 Degree Torque Arm. Primary Clutch weights, steel 17.2 in the "in" hole. Roller is 16.5mm. Spring is Orange-Silver-Orange.
Jets are 132.5 and Pilot Screw 3/4
Hope this helps.
