hey guy just got my first 06 apex er, and now i have a few questions. first i wanna know how to change out the hyfax on the rear and change the chain case oil. also where can i get yamaha blue paint? also i wanna make the bars higher how high can i go without getting a longer throttle cable and brake lines?

Drain Bolt inside tunnel for chaincase oil, Take skid out 4 bolts or bang slides 4-5 inches through track window and put sled in reverse and they will slide right off, works great very easy. My buddy had a 6in" riser on his 06 rtx and nothing was extended.

You can only go a couple of inches without extensions safely. I have an Apex mountain riser on mine and had to change the throtttle cable.

On my 07 I needed the MTN. cable for the 2" Rox, without it the rpm's increased when the bars were turned in either direction even slightly. I use the hammer method after of course taking out the screws in the front of the hifax, mine wear down real fast in the beginning of the season and seem to stay the same all year. i change them every fall anyway though. another thing invest in the Yamaheater, best $ spent, check out his thread on the General Yamaha discussion pages.

Paint

EDIT: removed link, I dont think that Color Rite is a sponsor. PM sent to OP

Here is the link for paint.

I used the yamaha blue to re-paint my A arms from Color Rite, it matched very, very well. looks completely factory painted. I had to use the primer and clear coat too to make it all match.

Careful, its easy to spend a hundred bux on that site, If I remember right I paid somewhere around $38/can of Yammi blue.

Chris will know how high you can go without extending cables:

Or his name on here is Superman

Chaincase has a drain plug on the inside of the tunnel. Fill to correct level on the stick.

Old Hyfax (if you know how) can be shot out the rear and new hammered thru the window on the track or some guys cut one set of windows a little wider.
I would suggest pulling that skid and looking it over. There is a LOT of info on here and also be sure to visit the tech pages from the main TY page.

Great info on this site and welcome to it!!!
