I have a Garmin 176C GPS that I use on my snowmobile, fishing boat, truck and want to mount it on my new 2005 Grizzly. Does anyone know of a constant hot wire in the steering column / handlebar area that I can use? Should I just pull it off my auxilliary plug on the fender? I'm wanting to have the mount and cord there permanantly.
Thanks,
Joel

you want it off with the key, you can tap the red wired that goes to the ignition.

You can tap the hot wire to the auxilary power DC port on the right as it only gets power when the ignition is in the ON position. If you want constant hot, you'll need to grab the hot wire to the ignition, or run your own hot lead to the battery (fused of course)and create a little power distro in the front for other accessories later.

I like to have my Garmin GPS V on an unswitched power supply. That way it stays on for the entire trip until I turn it off myself. Most GPS devices will aoutmatically power off, to save batteries, if you disconnect the auxilliary power.
Most of the time, I would forget to restart it and I would lose data accumulation for a half an hour or more.
