not sure if your looking for recommendations on units, or mapping. I run garmin 60csx with topo maps and redpine maps. I beleive that other map companies may give better customer service, but I have had no issues.

If you have an iPhone you can get them on your phone. That only helps though if you plan on using it every now and then and not for turn by turn.

I forgot to mention that my unit is mounted to a RAM MOUNT, and is hardwired to the sled. I can pop it off in 2 seconds, as I do not leave it on the sled when going inside to eat.
