Because the post is smaller than a handlebar, I had to use some rubber hose on it to make it hold there. Maybe some duct tape rolled up on there would actually work better as I found that it would sometimes turn on it.

ram makes an excellent mount that clamps to tubing of .5 inch dia., I have mine on the small windshield support on the m p, works excellent . p/n is 26-817k the web site is www.ram-mount.com, best of luck!
