Grass Drag King!

My Viper went to the Grass Drags in Chaumont, NY on Saturday. I ended up having to work so my son took the sleds down. He said the Viper did well. Pulled very hard and took everyone off the line. The drag was for 400 feet and was put on by SHCRA. The Viper won the 700 class! He said that the Viper seemed to fall flat around the 350 foot mark. Keep in mind the sled had no hours on it at all. I brought it home from the dealer and backed in the garage. Then loaded on the trailer to go to the drags. It returned home muddy like an ATV. My son spent most of Sunday cleaning it!

Good to hear! Only going to get better with miles! 4800 on my old Nytro and I swear it was still getting faster.

Did he only race in the 700 class? Curious as to how the sled will compete in a stock 800 class. I'd say from the 20 miles I have put on mine that it will give any stock 800 a good run in that short distance. I did prolly a dozen 200-300 foot runs against an xf7000 this weekend, didn't start from a dead stop we were usually rolling about 20-30 mph but I thought it accelerated really hard. Speedo would jump from 72 to 75 mph everytime so it was gaining fast yet. I'd always let off as soon as I seen 75. The hook up is awesome and really don't get hardly any ski lift at all whichs in my opinion is great cuz that means the full length of the skid is making contact.

He only ran the 700 class with it. He thinks he might have done ok in the 800 class only because it was a 400 ft run and not a 500 ft run like it was suppose to be. (track conditions). He said it didn't seem to have any legs past the 350 ft mark. 0-350 though he said you had to really hold on!

Ya that sounds about right. Any idea what speeds he was running by the 350 ft mark? I've got roughly 20 miles on mine so far and even holding it for 2-300 feet it's still only reaching 8400-8500 rpm. Running at 300-400 rpm too low could very easily loose 10-15 hp which well help a lot once they r broke in and running full rpm.

I was at this run and watched this sled it ran very well in the 700 stock class. I ran the 700 super stock and took first on the girlfriends nytro... with a good clutch setup this thing could be really fast I watch every race as I was the flag guy at the end after I raced...the yamahas where king of the 700's with out question! That turbo cat he brought ran very well too, to bad he wasn't leaving with a stutter button he would have left those sleds in another zip code! congrats!

I didn't buy the xr 1200 I bought the xf 1100 turbo (which I already sold!) so we weren't in the same class but I did race my gf nytro xtx and beat up on all the 700 super stock sleds only got beat once by a mod f7 by half a ski loop then came back in money class and beat him by a few sleds with alittle adjustment of course.
