For all of those that have serviced their own primary clutches, did you use Yamaha clutch grease or something else like waterproof moly wheel grease? I was about to use said wheel grease but was concerned that is wasn't the right consistancy maybe. Do the dealers stock clutch grease?
I guess what I'm asking is does it matter what I use?

I guess for reference I'll answer my own question.
Just got back from the dealer with a tub of "Grizzly Grease",
stock number ACC-ULTRA-GR-SE, retail $17.95 for 1 lb.
Probabley enough for two complete services.
Just fill the primary grease cover and re-assemble, voila all done.
I'll try to post pics later of why I'm servicing my primary clutch already at 22 hrs. :o|

for whats it worth

:yam:
I did my clutch with regular wheel bearing grease. After about 200 miles I thought it sounded like it was dry, so I went and bought a tub of Grizzly grease, or Ultramatic transmission grease. It quieted the clutch, will have to see if it lasts any longer. Its not that expensive, so I guess I will use it from now on.

You don't think $18.00 is alot for a tub of grease?
How much is a 1 lb. tub of regular high-temp wheel grease, typically? :?

True, it is $18,but

After looking at some of the prices of Yamaha oem parts, $18 doesn't seem so bad!
$300 for ONE shock? Do they machine it out of a solid bar of aluminum using nothing but a file and cordless drill? CV joints are outrageous also. Even those ridiculous plastic rivets are $1 a pop.
Just for comparison I just bought a tub of hi-temp wheel bearing grease and it was less than $3. So ya, $18 for a tub of Grizzly grease is a lot in that perpective.

Funny you mentioned the plastic rivets..............Just bought a couple last night and they were like $1.39 a piece. :o.
I'm taking upon myself to find a cheaper equivalent to the Grizzly grease. :exc: LOL
