I do a lot of oil road riding between farms with my grizzly. I use to race 4-wheelers from 86-90 and remember having some car tires that were cut to have tread for flat track racing, and great wear. I think they were Michellin ZXZ tires mounted on ALum Mitchel rims.
My stock front tires are slick. Each time I put a tire plug in, I get excited thinking I have more tread now.
Has anyone tried a lite car front tire and cut tread or lugs into it? I remember that my old race tires were awesome, and never wore down, as they were a harder compound rubber.
Any ideas or suggestions?

ITP makes a hard surface tire kit available from Dennis Kirk. Or if an off road tire is needed, Maxxis Bighorns wear very well I am told.
