I just finished up installing the wire for the reverse override on my 2004 Grizzly. I followed the diagrams in the tech section. It works great. I was trying it out tonight and found that in diff lock mode it is already in override, meaning you don't have to push the button to go as fast as you want (normal speed limit is 22 MPH in Diff Lock Mode). Is this normal? Any info would be great.

Also, great site by the way. :D

Most all Grizzly's have a reverse rev limiter to prevent anyone from backing up to fast. My Grizzly would only back up 10 MPH. Some other guys have said it is 13 MPH. Either way, when your stuck in mud or snow, it is nice to have a override button to give full power while stuck. I followed the pictures and info on some of the other post and made a jumper wire. I tied it into the green/white strip wire on the left side of the quad just behind the side cover. I ran a new wire up to under the front fender cover and tied onto the light green wire that comes from the override button on the left handlebar switch.

When I back up, if I need full power, I just push the diff lock override button and I it allows me to use full power. It is a really good idea. My brother-in-law has a Kawasaki that has the same button that allows him to use reverse with no rev limiter. His quad doesn't have diff lock but his left side handlebar assembly is identical to the Yamaha and lets him override reverse.

Some sites on E-bay have the directions with wire and terminals for around $20. Just search e-bay or check with GrizzHopper. I went to my local Yamaha dealer and my tech set me up with the factory style bullet connectors with a double female end that looks like Yamaha would have installed it. Sweet :D

The Diff-Lok Limiter is seperate from the Reverse Limiter. If you wired the reverse override onto the OEM Diff-Lok Override button, then you will be overriding both at the same time when the button is pressed.

Yes, you will have to press the button to impliment the override.

Alternatively, you can hardwire the override function for a full-time override condition. Do this at your own risk.

I have mine hardwired because I wanted the button for other functions I had in mind that were more important to me.

:D

I also did my reverse override per Grizzhoppers inst. and it works great, gets you out of a bind.
