Got out and did some more running this last saturday with 2 GT's and 2 rtx's. I started out stock, running against a GT with an ulmer stage 2. I had about a 1-1.5 length advantage in 8-900 feet. I went back and installed a Ulmer 2 kit in my sled and went to about a 3 length total gain. Then the an RTX with an ulmer 2 kit showed up, and he proceeded to put about 3-4 lengths on both of the GT's. After talking to him, i pulled some weight out and dropped the secondary to 6-2, and then found myself right along side the RTX. The other GT pulled out some weight and gained some also. A second RTX showed up with a Team roller secondary, and he ran quite hard, a length or two ahead of us also. He also said he was turning 11,000 rpms?!?! He had about 700 miles, and felt that the sled keeps getting faster as the miles build. I would say over the course of the day, the with the Ulmer kit installed, we managed to pick up 4-5 lengths, although we had to pull some weight out from the original ulmer specs to make them go. Another observation was that the RTX's seemed to have the better hole shot. Has anyone else seen this, maybe the rear shock in the RTX's transfer a little better? Another observation was that all the sleds seemed to pick up as we let them spin more RPM's, not to mention that the one RTX was at 11k rpms. These motors seem to like it up higher in the power band than they do lower. I am also happy to say all the apex's were mixing it up with some higher HP mod sleds, including some mach z's on NOS, modded rev's, and modded F7's.

If you adjust the weight now, you will end up adding weight later as the engine breaks in..
I had a Simons stage two clutching on my rx warrior last year, and had to add weigth 3 different times to bring the RPMs down..

Yup, you are right. I imagine that is why the one RTX with 700 miles on it was running such high RPM's. I guess that is the good part about these weights - unlike the stock ones, they are very easy adjust.

Eric, glad to hear you got it straightened out. Please give us a call (will be back in the shop tomorrow evening). I know you left a message on Friday but we had a power outage and your message got wiped off the answering machine.

TT670, take a washer out of the tip if you're looking for a touch more rpm's. This will raise the rpm approx 150 (depends slightly on snow conditions). Another option would be if you have the O-P-O spring to go to the O-S-O primary spring (engagement will jump up to about 4000 or so then as a downfall). If you change to the O-S-O you should be able to pull slightly more heel weight to help counter-act the higher engagement as well (like 1 gold washer).

Will do Allen.

Just curious, what's the general consensus as to how many hours and/or miles it takes for these motors to be completely broken-in?
Also, have you serious performance guys checked your tachs to make damn sure they're a heckuva lot more accurate than Yami's dreamometer? – Roy
