So after all the waiting and checking with my dealer..is it here yet..is it here yet...Today was the day...2ft of snow...unmaintained roads..and my Apex GT.. :-)

1st off....I can't believe how cool reverse is...Will not miss getting off the SRX and sliding the back end around while the electric shield cord always got in the way...Now its just a pleasant beep beep beep....

So I'm cruising down a trail...Well floating down it..launching off some mogul bumps and noticed I was bottoming it out a wee bit...Hmm what's this button...riiiggghhhtt its for the suspension...lol On the fly from the softest setting to just below hard...No more bottoming...And now just a weeeeeeeee bit more throttle....

So all day I followed break-in procedures...Read the newspaper and let it idle for 15 minutes...Under 6000 rpm with with short bursts...(Painful) Can't wait for this too be over...End of the day..decided to giver a lil down a straight away...

ok so now it feels like I'm entering the warp zone....seems like everything falls into unison and the smoothness of it is almost surreal..Its fast...real fast.. I'm very excited by this sled...Best of all worlds...Comfort, performance, looks, etc etc

Don't regret selling the SRX whatsoever...Love the new technology...

Apex_Gt -Yes ,can`t wait for breakin to be over either as I got my Gt last Fri.After a few miles I notice a squeek. What the?? :o| :o| Find out its the little bar pad styrofoam/cover and cables rubbing together.

This pad is staying off :die

My grips got warm/hot enough even staying below 7000rpms.I say quietly  .
Kept my hands close to the blocks though.
Build date 10/05 ,number is over 5000 in case any body wants to know.

Sled rocks

Hey Yami82! My GT was built the same day as yours!

My grips seem okay too...not hot, but definitely not cold.

I noticed the same squeek, and I just took the foam pad off and put it back on tighter and the squeek is gone. I don't think it was installed correctly in the first place.

Break in = Ride it like you stole it !

HAHA SWEET!!!

I've owned a couple SRXs, and they were some of my favorite sleds ever. Loved that motor. I think my Apex surpasses it in every measure, including motor. I finally picked up my GT on Wed, after waiting for months. I promptly headed for Pittsburgh NH to ride with Denny from HCS and few cat guys. What a sled. Didn't touch a thing, just filled the tank, threw on my reg stickers and rode. Powdery conditions, the sled handled awesome, very well balanced. No problems with dartiness or push, drive deep into the corners back off the throttle and crank the bars. The chassis is very predictable and goes into a nice controlled oversteer, sweet. Granted, it may take a bit to get used to this potential, but I spent a year on an RX1, so I had practice. I weigh 210 plus gear and will be firming up the suspension. I have the heavier spring on order, which should make it plusher by riding higher in the travel. Up there on the fast stuff, the sled is simply awesome. The motor is like a turbine, and once I cracked about 150 miles, I noticed it loosening up. It just keeps pulling and pulling. I'm clutching it, studding it, putting a real windshield on and will be loving it. Just one thing Yamaha......fix my friggin handlebar heaters. The rest of the sled is so great, this is a glaring flaw.

I noticed that squeek today on my first ride. It went away. This sled is so much Quieter than my 05; you hear everything.

wavey,
I went on my first real ride on my GT today and I noticed the same thing. It sounds totally different than my 05, I really like the sound of this motor.
