I'm sitting on the fence with this deal. I need help getting pushed over to the dark side. Looking at appx. 250h/p.
I really like the way my stock winder runs. Engagement is buttery smooth. And it almost feels electric as I pin the flipper and the powerplant comes to life.

Modding a sled has trade offs.

Seriously, can some of you guys please explain the negatives?

Pm me if that works better.

The only thing is I would like to see a few years on this motor in "customer" hands before committing to a tune. I can't afford to not have full warranty for a while.

Zero negatives... My honest opinion.
100% agree - I feel I had zero drivability changes with the EcoTrail and Dalton weights, it was still buttery smooth engagement too. There are no tradeoffs that I see with the Ecotrail and expect the same of Powertrail this year. And I'm with you in that all modding I've done in the past had some tradeoff, even on my Ford Explorer Sport. That's not the case here, at least with TD and the full EcoTrail package.

The only negative I have seen, is that wanting more power, gets addictive, which gets more and more costly .
I don,t bother riding my buddies high powered sleds anymore, cause I don,t want to catch that bug, again. Are you familiar with the term " moneypit " LOL

With the new flasher options people like Hurricane have available to them you can dial down the boost if you want. There is a Hurricane dealer near you, he's a Cat guy but setting up alot of sleds.

Maybe, but clutch weights would need to be changed and/or adjusted.

Want to pm me info? I'll check it out.

The devil is making me do this. Please help.......

When your buddy pulls up next to you doing 100mph, him on his tuned Sidewinder... the rear end squat's down, and you watch him from a distance pull away with ease, and no chance catching him. And then him not having any diffulity in the tight trails, no complaining about drivability etc. etc.
If you decide to go ahead with it, try and go with the flash bundle so you have the option of flashes to run, imo.

Once you tune, you will be shocked how lame a stocker feels...lol

ONLY draw back was always the need for loud muffler to make the HP/tune complete....But now with stock/modded mufflers available, we really can have it all with no negatives.

As for clutching, I would never have run stock clutching anyway....even a stock tune/clutched winder is wonderful. I never liked any stock YAM clutching going way back to phazer days in 80s. Apex was same, clutched it became very fun.

Oh, and dont you want BETTER MPG too?

Go with the full suite IMO....then you can slap stock map back in at anytime if need be for any reason. Also can go with a stock muffler tune initially then, before you get into a new muffler.

No negatives. Turbo Dynamics has some cool videos of their sleds running their flashes and endless hours of in the field testing. Check out their Facebook site.

NEGATIVES:

1. Son has to join the Army 'cuz college money is gone
2. Tempted to drive faster than one may be able to handle putting one in very precarious situations (i call those sphincter tighteners)
3. Wife divorces you due to tired of your stained undies (this may be blessing in disguise for some)

Seriously i hear you & thinking same exact thing. It wakes me up in the middle of the night! I am waiting to see how my clutch kit works, but man-o-man it is getting hard to sit back & watch all this new stuff come out. I think by February everything will be dialed in. I'm also waiting to see how Maine reacts to new muffler laws.

No negatives here....but these guys are correct.

A 250 horse tune needs a good muffler and adjustable weights

But what you get is FUN FUN FUN!!! Better fuel mileage without sacrificing drive-ability. You will still be able to rail thru the corners. When you can pull the skis over 100mph...that is priceless.

Thanks to the guys that shared thru posts & PMs. I error to the cautious side. Even more so due to the sport, short window to ride & a catastrophic failure in the middle of nowhere.

Just got off turbo dynamics website and his eco trail and powertrail kits are marked down. You can't go wrong.
