Does anyone know who actually manufactures this shock and if these would be equivalent to the Ohlins. Just deciding whether to order the GT with these shocks that come on it, or something different. (ie) Ohlins, Fox Float etc.
;)!

That was my thought. Thats why I was wondering who actually made this shock for Yamaha. I don't see Ohlins cannibalizing there our product for Yamaha. They due make a big deal about the rear shock which is a Ohlins. Very nice.
Does anyone have an opinion on the GYT-R clickers vs the Ohlins or Fox float?

They certainly look like Ohlins...but they would probably say so if they were...or maybe Ohlins have to be gold..so to get black they had to rebadge them..ya that's the ticket!!

The standard stock KYB's and Ski-doo's HPG's are made by the same people. My guess it that they are just a HPG with the res and clicker.

Not sure on the clickers, Kyaba possibly as they have been one of the biggest supplies. The floats are the most interesting to me, Fox also makes a clicker version of those. In the new rough trail videos they look like they work fantastic.

I have seen several of the fox floats go flat during riding on the new F7's.

HPG is used all over the place as generic for "High Pressure Gas"
Are you sure they are saying HPG as stating the manufacturer?

Power, you see any reliability issues with the elec. Ohlins in the rear given how much ice the Yami's like to slurp up and retain in the skid?

And, I'm a little confused by the whole ER/RTX/GT offerings. I mean, why offer them as seperate "models" as opposed to options off of the same base model. Looks like $9,699 would get you an Apex (non-ER), $300 for ER, $500 for fox floats, roughly $500 for the front gyt-r clickers, $400 for the rear elec Ohlins and the colors/graphics look they're horse a piece.

The more I look at these sleds, I really only like the blue, so that doesn't leave much in the way of choices under the current "model" configurations..... and aftermarket is going to be more expensive than if the menu board approach were available. There really isn't that much of a difference in the 3 Apex shorties to justify them as sperate "models" and not really be able to package the color and features you want/don't want. Maybe that's the '07 improvement - a true "option" approach?

I agree with you completely Sodbuster. I would really like the setup with the RTX. Non reverse and Fox Float shocks, but I absolutely can't stand the paint job on it. So really my only option is to get a base ER and just add Fox shocks too it which I've heard they're quite spendy. Plus I'll still have reverse on there which I really don't want.

GYT-R is Yamaha's inhouse shock brand, IIRC. They make some good stuff for motorcycles. Yammie also own Ohlins, as JDK says.
