I bought this sled in the spring and haven't ridden it yet (08 40th anniversary Vector)
Judging by the shield, I would say it is a medium?
Do you think I will need hand guards for this coming winter or does this windshield deflect enough air away from my hands?
The yamaheater was installed by the previous owner also.

Wow that thing is wicked clean!! I had a mid shield on my 07 nytro and needed the handguards. Not sure if you will have contact issues with the newer style shield ... I had the older chassis.

not to hyjack, but I have a set of brand new black "skinz" guards for sale as I sold my apex. I loved them b/c they come off easy and fit in saddle bags when not in use. pm me if interested.

Thanks Yeller, it looks even better now that I have replaced the wheels and will soon be adding a white skid plate.

I was concerned about the wind and cold with the medium shield that came on my sled. I went with the powermadd ones, they did nothing for cold protection, but it did do well for protection of branches and such on the tight trails.
The windshield may have been fine... if my handwarmers worked worth a crap. That is getting fixed before the snowfall with yammiheater.

Irv,
I have a'07 Apex, and our windshields are about the same. The windy gives pretty good protection, and you have the Yamaheater. I went with the PowerMadd Hand Guards, because I added one of Supermans Risers, that is 1 1/2" over stock, an that puts your hands more in the line of fire. Plus I like having the mirrors on the ends of the guards.
You might want to think about some type of hand guards, as I would say you more than likely have colder temps to ride in, just by your location, than I do.
Nice looking sled, love the garage

With the stock windshield Hand Guards will hit it at full deflection. I really didn't see much benefit of the medium windshield over the low so I went lower and kept the handguards.

Myself also!!!!!! Plus i like the looks of handguards.
For trail use there fine but if you ride extreme offtrail i don't recommend them you will break the handguard mounts everytime you go riding.I like the skinz soft one's for the cold days the just vecro on to you handle bar and the end of the hook in 5seconds.

My hand guards don't hit at full turn, but I'm not running the stock riser either.
