I just decided to put on the RSI's myself since the cost would be a lot less than me driving everywhere for a $45.00 warranty part. The RSI's have a lower Ohm rating so it ashould be a little hotter and them seem to not be as delicate.

Jamie,

you got the RSI thumb lever, where did you find that as I didn't see it on their website?

Yamadog,

Sorry to here that...

No all I did were the hands. I haven't really had a problem with the thumbs, they don't get hot but I haven't gotten cold yet.... When it fails I will deal with it then.

Anybody found a trick to make the thumb warmer get hot??? I've thought about adding insulation to the back of the throttle or some aluminum tape to try and force the heat through the plastic.

Arctic Cat sells them individually (right or left), as well as the single grip. Funny neither AC or Yamaha use cork under theirs. Ski Doo sells a cork the exact same as the heater element, keeps the heat in your hand, not the bars. AC curved grips appear about an inch longer than Yamaha as well.

The connector is a simple clip less than 2" from the heater element, located under the control box for hi/lo beams or kill switch fyi. 3 wires, pretty sure all green with a different stripe on each. I was trying to find mine in -30 cold last week and thankfully the Arctic Cat guys put me right on it. Yamaha dealer is probably still trying to figure out what heated handgrips are... or a Viper for that matter.

Yes, put a decent size windshield on it and on really cold days use elephant ears. They are great alternatives to combat the fact that the last 10yrs of Yamaha's heaters suck compared to earlier sleds-

Couple weeks ago I lost the right side. Replaced it and all is well for the 300 miles..
