Sounds counter intuitive but I find if the trails are tight I set the front shock dampening harder to eliminate the track wander and softer when conditions are loose. Seems to work fine.

I like the Idea of trying flipping the ski rubbers, and shimming 1st (If we get any more snow here!). Where would I get the shims that you spoke of? I also want to try raising the rear limiter. But only want to try one adjustment at a time.

When decelerating the wt transfers to the front of the sled so any adjustment that prevents this will help but it always seems to be a give and take situation. If you pull the limit strap in the rear won't you loose travel? I've never tried shimming the rubber which I'm sure will help with darting but what's the negative. If you put all the pressure on the back of the ski I would think less off the ski and runner contacts the ground. It may work well in powder but what about on hard pack? The problem I had with deceleration was when the wt transfer to the skis it darted like made so I got ride of the darting by installing dual carbide runners. With the darting problem eliminated the wt transfer becomes less of a problem. because the dual runners made such a difference I really can't find anything negative.

The shims are actually ski saver pieces, but any plastic you can find that about 1/4'' think can be made to work. I just found a thread about "dartless" ski inserts. Has anyone tried these?

I've been slowly working on the steering issue. First i increased ski pressure on my rtx. BIG mistake. made it worse. So i then decreased it. Im running 60 psi in the fronts. Then i pulled the front limiter strap up 1 notch, and the rear strap up 1 notch. I pulled the front up a notch, because my sled would lift soooooo far on take off, WHEELIE KING FO SHO!! sled is handing tons better. my next step is to lower the preload on the front spring in the skid. I have 144 studs (middle and outside of track) also. I dont get the tail whip that others get but i do get push in the corners, just have to deal with it. I love the acceleration i get with studs (and the stopping power also).

I took a good bit of pre-load out of my front shock(about 1 to 2 threads left showing on shock body when I was finished) also set the rear torsion spring to the stiffest setting. I like it a lot better since I did that.

Flipping the rubbers with the slots to the front helped improve the my deceleration issue. But overall I am still unhappy with the way my sled handles. I took a look at my runners yesterday and they are petty well worn. I really don't want to spend the money to buy new ski's. I am having a hard time believing that Yamaha would continue to produce and sell a sled if the ski's are so inefficient. Having said that, I am going to try to work with the stock ski's, and try a different runner. I think for now I am going to order a set of the Woddy's Dooly's and give that a try first.
