Well, was a rough weekend for the phazer!

Started off with the left handwarmer calling it quits. Then I blew a belt to shreds. Cors wrapped around in the helix, had to take apart the clutch trail side to get all the cords out. Another bonus of the new secondary clutch! Then I hit a mogul real hard, suspension breaking hard but I was lucky and the bold broke and not the rail.

Anyway I checked the warmer and its way out of speck. I am reading 180k ohms.

So I was wondering if anyone could give me some tips on removal/installation. I have a very limited supply of tools so I would like to know if I need anything before I get to the sled as it is not close to a store.

Also tips on how to remove it would be great!

Thanks!

I've always removed grips with a little WD40 and a small screwdriver. Slid the screwdriver in a way and spay and twist off. Clean it up with brake clean and I've got a can of my wife's tackiest hair spay, apply and slide on.

That's the same bolt that was gone on Thomas' but didn't see it and it did break the opposite mount on the rail and the shaft just slid out and disappeared. Good thing you caught it!

If it's the stock grips, I used a hooked style blade to cut them off since they'll have to be replaced anyway. Don't forget to drill the rivet. According to Rockmeister, best thing to use to install is 2 part epoxy. I used some from Dollarama. Slides on easy and holds well.

Just wondering, never really heard of a Phazer blowing a belt. Was it a Yamaha belt? Could it be possibly have been caused by that clutch?

Thanks guys!

I have blown 2 belts. Each has lasted about 5500 km's. I spend a lot of time at WOT now that there are a lot of lakes around me, many long lakes. I would not blame it on the clutch just yet until it becomes a real problem. I am running the stock yamaha belt. 2 Belts in almost 11,000 km's aint too bad!
