My phazer turns over 30 times before it finally starts. it usually gives a big ol backfire and then the cranking starts to go a bit faster and then finally, VOILA, she starts. Ive tried a new battery and it doesnt seem to help. Is this what the cold start kit was for. I live in Terrace BC so things arent really that cold here. Im looking for ideas to try. My first idea is to replace fuel filter. Is it in the tank? Is there only one?, Any ideas appreciated. Thanks

Cold weather starting update was for -20c and below but even above that, it made it start faster. Even without the update, your extra long cranking and backfire is very unusual. Sounds like either there's no spark or fuel during the initial cranking. Since it gives a backfire, that's usually an indication you're getting fuel. Maybe take it apart and check the spark plugs and spark while cranking.
