which are better? looking to extend my 05 shorty to 136, got a take off track really cheap, going with the hartman tunnel extension, not sure which way to go with the rails. the tracks rails appear superior due the fact they extend the hyfax but i've read that they may be too long??? any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I just had my '05 warrior stretched out to 151" using the Hartman rails. Look good, but have yet to see how they hold up...from what I hear, their stuff is good quality.

You'll love the extra length...rides and handles so much better.

When I extended my '04 RX-1 I went with Tracks USA because I wanted to extend the hyfax as well. That is just my personal preference as far as durabilty is concerned. A moot point with respect to the PA skid.

The tracks usa ext are way stronger. there is nothing wrong with the hartmans, but the tracks are better. Maxdlx

4fighter you say moot point with the pa skid i assume you mean ra, why moot point???

No I meant Pro-Action. I doubt either extension would have mattered, the skid (I) kept breaking W-arms. But my Expert-x has extensions that extend the hyfax on it too, which I still prefer for mid-west trail riding.

Just added TRACKSUSA 136" RAIL EXT. on my 03. REAL nice pieces , seem far superior to the others, had no fitment problems.
used HARTMAN tunnel ext , also very nice fit/ finish ;)!

Click on the pic to enlarge, but check out how much better the track USA extension matches the stock rail. There is almost no transition and without looking you'll never know it was extended like the hartmann.

I would bet the mount is also much stronger in how it integrates into the old axle mounts.

Also despite some rumors no machining is required. Mine fit perfectly without modifications.

Track USA extensions are definately much nicer.

I ran the hartmans last season no problems.I switched to traks usa this year because basically they look nicer and I had to replace hyfax any how.

I am the one, or one of the guys that said the tracks usa extensions are too long and they are.

I took a measurement at where I ran my track tension all last year and now ,studded with no ratcheting problems and it comes out ,at least on my sled(05 RX-1) that if you dont shorten the tracks usa extensions you will have to run the adjusters all the way out so that the teflon in the nuts barley goes on to the stud.

You could loctite the nuts so they dont fall off if.If you set the track tension like you used to on the 121" what you will find is your suspension feels like you put a heavy duty spring in it because its trying to stretch the track as the suspension collapses.

You just have to run the extended mono supension looser and it works fine the ride improvement is noticable as well.

Give bruce a call at tracks usa and ask If they have changed the extensions yet. They clearly have a superior product as far as looks and quality.
15" longer track needs a 7.5" longer extension not 8.25" its as simple as that.

Steve,
I would not be so certain that your extensions are too long. I had no trouble getting my track in without the problems you describe. I would bet you have a track that is a bit too short which caused your problems. There are some disturbing reports of large variability in track lengths by many on the forum which may better explain your trouble.

I suppose that I have a track that is too long and just happens to fit perfectly, but I will never know. Many others have purchased these extensions and other than your experience I don't remember anyone else with the same problem.

Just because the hartmann extensions are shorter does not explain the problem fully. The length of the extensions does not matter as much as where the axle sits inside and how much adjustment you have from there.

The Hartman extensions also lock into the stock axle mount area as well. Looks = Tracks USA, but function go to either one. It's all personal preference.

Tracks USA extensions also lock into the stock axle mount area. See picture below - pay no attention to the track tensioner - that is a custom piece I made. But the extension are from Tracks USA.

I never said the Tracks USA didn't lock into the stock axle mount position. Otis said the Tracks USA extensions were stronger because it mounts into the old axle mounts. I was just saying that the Hartman extensions also go into the old axle mount as well.

I have used both hartman and tracks usa rail extension's.Tracks usa are by far stronger I like them better, but hartman has new one's where you can run longer hyfax,I haven't seen them yet.As far as tunnel extension's I think hartman is #1.I have used mtn performance tunnel extensions also but prefer hartman.
