On my 06 Attak, no matter out of the hole or top end I can take my buddies 03 ZR 900. At first he was studded, then changed to 1.5'' ripsaw cause he couldn't take it, and I still take him. He's flipping mad. Should have just kept all that money from all the mods and bought a YAMMY. We changed sleds a few times and with the 1.5'' ripsaw on ZR ski's never touch the ground, seems like taking a sailboat through the trails no handling at all. He can't believe the handling of Attak.

Gentlemen, gentlemen, gentlemen.... Let me answer your questions and comments.
I currently own a 03' ZR900, 03' F7, 04' F7 and a 06' Apex GT.
Let me first start by saying, I love my Apex! I have 998 miles on it and it's completely stock. Great sled...!
However, I also enjoy my Cats, very much. I have about 6700 miles on the ZR900 and about 2000 miles on each of the F7's.
I will tell you this, other than clutch kits and breather mods, my other sleds are all stock with average amount of picking on all sleds.
The ZR900 will absolutely beat the Apex every time and walks away top end. The 03' F7 is slower than the Apex and the 04' F7 beats the Apex pretty much every time. My 04' F7 has always run stronger than my 03' F7 (don't know why, just does).
Keep in mind, all of the racing and comparisons have been done by a variety drivers with weight differences to be sure that the results were actual. The results are always pretty much the same.
We run 1200 to 1500 feet for most races. Hole shot, rolling starts and 1/2 miles runs for top end results.
The reason I bought the Apex is I rode all three 4 strokes. Cat, Polaris and Yamaha. Yamaha was by far the best of the three. I have always been a Cat guy and I got a great deal of grief from my riding buddies who are mostly Polaris guys (therefore, their comments mean nothing).
Bottom line is this... I'm pretty much sold on both Yami and Cat. I really don't see myself ever going with anything else.
Anyone who doesn't think that Cats ZR900 & F7's are quick sleds, seems like they're just brand loyal to whatever they ride and possibly a little jealous.
The same goes for anyone who thinks that the new Yami's aren't great sleds.
I will argue on both sides, but the results are what they are... PERIOD.

You forgot to mention the 03' is faster than the 04 and 05 models that have diamond drive.. !
I beat my buddys 05 STOCK FOR STOCK every time.. PERIOD... and i personally think i have one of the weak APEX's... Had it been a 03 zr900 results may not have been the same...
Its all up to the tuner and reaction time..

I have personally owned a Apex GT and 06 ZR 900.. The 900 is faster.. Not by much, but is... I am Yamaha to the bone, and believe me I wanted the Yamaha to be faster, it just isn't.. The 900 is completely stock with studs.. In 06 the 900's still have the Diamond Drive, but they put a bigger secondary back on them, like they did on the Firecats, and longer belt.. Now they accellerate hard and still have the top end, like the 03's.. I have raced it against stock Apex's and clutched Apex's with the same results..Chad Ouverson

Thanks Randy.
Owning this many sleds is pretty dumb... lol. But, it does give me the opportunity to do some comparison testing.

The one thing everyone must realize is this.. There are weak and there are strong F7s/ZR900s/apexs.. It depends weather or not you have a weak apex and a strong zr900! or you tuned your susupenson better on the zr900..
Like i said before.. I raced my buddys brand new 05 with 2000 miles several times during a 4 day ride... and every time i won by atleast 2 sled lengths and he never pulled me in .5 mile! He should top end me because he has a 1 inch track but didnt...
They are very close sleds NO DOUBT... but to say you will beat every apex with a zr900 or vise versa.. would just be crazy..
Its rider-Tuner- condtions

I realize a lot of things...
I realize the original question on this post was "Has anyone ran (he meant run) a ZR900 with their Apex?" No year specified...
I realize that you have a weak Apex yet, you beat your buddies ZR900 every time, congrats. Sounds like someone might have a weak ZR900.
Now, do yourself and me a favor, go reread my post and pay special attention to the year of the ZR900 that I own. It's an 03' which means no diamond drive. Therefore, I can't post anything about an 05' with a diamond drive. I don't own one.
Yamadooman owns a 06' ZR900 with a diamond drive and an Apex, read his post.
I answered the original question with my results. My results aren't what someone had happen one time while riding one weekend for fun. My results are from several test runs done over several weekends with different conditions and riders.
BTW, good luck with your Apex, I hope you enjoy it. Good luck with that max speed of 109 on your dream-o-meter. That means you're probably running around 96-99. A properly running ZR900 has a better top end than that.
I don't think a standard 1" track is lighter than our 1 1/4" ripsaw tracks. I could be wrong. I've been told the 1 1/4" ripsaw is lighter than a 1" standard track.

PS: "It's rider-tuner-conditions" Seems like you might have an amazing grasp for the obvious... lol.. Just playing.

I have raced 2 06 f7's one is a sno pro stock and I beat him all day long no problem, the other f7 has a bmp pipe mod, 4" intake and d&d y pipe, and athe same track as a sno pro 1"-3/8 and can also beat him all day but I will have to say that it is alot closer than the stock sno pro. I also raced a 05 zr 900 with a 1"3/8 track and cluched and helix changed, this sled gives me the best run until 92-95 mph and then I walk past him and don't stop.
We have raced in every condition and when ever we can, they are my driving partners.
Thats my 2 cents

Honestly guys... all the new big iron is very close...
My sled might not be the FASTEST sled out there but apprently its the QUICKEST OF ANY IVE RACED!
