They seem to have alot of luck with it on Polaris, suppose to keep the track from folding over. It involves counter sinking screws into the track to stiffen the lugs.

Looks like a good way of helping the lugs.

I think so too. if it works it would be alot cheaper then upgrading the track.

Only thing I can see happening, if you bend the screw over, it will now stay in the bent over angle from the new backbone...

Great concept.....and after one of those "bullets" finds the bulkhead cooler, you can use the money you saved on the track and buy one of those new mountian performance tunnel coolers, ....LOL!
Seriously...how long are the screws you are putting in and what kind are they?
You would think with almost 2-1/2" of track thickness to work with, there isn't much of a chance they will come out.....and my guess is they will stiffen the lugs alot. Interesting idea.
If it works well, I can see it now....Ice Ripper Paddle tracks and the aftermarket will be offering 2-1/4" stainless screws with carbide heads!

That's what I'm worried about too, creating missiles,
look like they are only 1" screws?

maybe compare a sled sitting on with the screws in and out to see if there is much of a difference. Something like taking a picture of the track before and after screws with it sitting on the ground to compare how much they fold over. It already looks like the lug design on the track you showed has extra support to keep from folding over. It may help other types of tracks though.

I keep forgetting your name on here hearnoevil,LOL. Personally I would cut the track down a bit, a 2.5" track cut down to 2" would be a lot stiffer and I bet you wouldn't notice much difference in the powder, might even be better because the lugs wouldn't fold over so easy.

I use a different nick on every forum. so if anyone at work finds out my username and googles it they won't see how much time i spend on them
I can't cut my track, it goes against everything i wanted
I'd like to try it but i'm scared of putting one through my coolers

From a mountain perspective, the 2.5" track walks all over the 2" track....it is like adding 30 horsepower....
Stock track is a piece of junk, that is why yammie has been in Dev. To fix it...
You have to remember, that for every 1/2" of track/paddle you multiply that by the number of paddles in the snow to come up with the actual snow displacement difference....and as the old saying goes, there is no replacement for displacement!!!
