Hi i was wondering if it is worth the money for the K&N filter kits for the nytro? I see alot of companies are offering them.???

I think the kits have just come out, not sure anyone has had enough snow to really test them, I know siscakid just put a set on his Nytro. PM him and ask him, he has made some test runs.

Some people swear by them, others are more realistic. They're right up there with the benefits of snake oil.

There is an airbox on the intake for a number of reasons... 1) tends to keep the snow out, 2) keeps the throttle response LINEAR, 3) provides a vacuum for crankcase evacuation.

Replacing the airbox with just a filter will have this effect; 1) greater chance of getting plugged with snow, 2) throttle response will be non-linear, 3) lack of vacuum against crankcase *** THIS CAN CAUSE OIL CONSUMPTION ***. 4) negligible or no increase in power.

I ran em in my nytro but I needed a fuel accelerator. Dynotech showed a 4-5 hp gain with the filters. Using pre-filters I never had any powder ingestion problems. I will be usng em again on my xtx.

We have a set on the race sled...with the PC. It's not a bolt on kit...once you understand that they work great. I think this sled would give LB a lesson in throttle response lol (I know, I know...you said linear...). With prefilters on the trail snow is not an issue. In the steep and deep I have no idea. An Evac kit will take care of the crankcase vacuum.

Like anything elses filters will need added sled tuning (clutching, added fuel) to see a gain. Once dialed in they are a great addition to the overall package.

I would like to, just never got the time yet.
