This year its all about comfort for me.
Installed RSI high power grip heaters, lined with cork.
The last 3 years I have used Choko muffs with the shitty stock grip heaters.
The Skinz hand guards seem to be a more open design. This I like as I felt the chokos were a bit bulky.
But with the warmer RSI heaters will the Skinz guards be enough?

Your hands should be toasty warm with the new heaters and the skinz guards. Tried the hand guards last season and it was better. This year I have the yamaheaters.

I have the soft Skinz hand guards and I love them! Large and great coverage.

I was looking into getting some until I was told they tend to flop around/move when your on the gas pretty good?

I figured thats all I'd need, one of the guards moving around on my throttle hand and the other one getting in the way of my brake hand.

I didn't get any flapping from mine. I've seen the rox and powermadd style guards break off and bend pretty easy. Of coarse most don't put themselves in a position to roll over or slide into a tree.

I have them so does my fiance. We get no flapping around what so ever.I think there awesome you can put them on literllay in 1 minute.I got sick of breaking handguard mounts everytime I ride off trail or in the mtns it seems it would happen.
I will never use a traditional handguard again.
Its actually functional and bloack alot more wind themn mot plastic handguards.

Do they get in your way when you are trying to sidehill and grabbing your boondocking handle on the outside of the bars? It kinda looks like they would.

I have skinz hand guards used them for 2 years know. There two different versions when I bought mine. They work good for what I wanted them for.

No I grab on the inside of them and only use them on extreme cold days.

good to hear, but do they block the wind like a trad. hardshell handguard or does part of your hand go into the Skinz trail version kinda like a traditional gauntlet? It looks like a mix of the two. I ask only because I never seen them in person. I live in Northern Manitoba.. so lots of very cold riding

I've been looking at a set also, I have RSI elements and grips and they work good to -10*f but below that I need to put choppers on. I'd rather pull the guards out and ride with gloves instead though.

I would like to get the Rox handgaurds but wow look at there price!

I have Powermadd hand guards with the Rox Flare extensions. They are a little pricey but well made and offer alot of protection. Once you install the Flares they are pretty much on there for good. G.B.

I have the Powermad ones with the mirrors. My factory Yamaha cover does not like them very much, they make it really tight. but they have not broken at all, just a PITA sometimes with getting the cover on.

My buddy has the skins guards, he has only used them once though. He said they work for what he wanted them for. They do look like they block a bigger area than mine do, and they come off so easy when not needed.

Since I bought some nice gloves last time around (Klim Fusions) and got some better grip heaters, I only keep the powermadd guards on for the mirrors, which are good for seeing headlights behind you and thats about it.
