I wrapped the flex couplers and pipe under the front heat shield in header wrap to keep the heat in. The heat coating on the exhaust shield has worn away in some spots so I figured this was a good idea. When I fired it up, it smoked like a bastard, but I seam to remember my truck doing this when I used the header wrap. Should I have any concern?

there is smoke coming from the exhaust, or the sled it's self is smoking?
I used header wrap on a ford probe a long time ago. I then used a special paint to "seal" it. As I remember, it smoked and smelled quite noticeably for about a week of on and off driving. Then it finally cured and the smell and smoke went away.
My guess, it's normal (provided it's coming from the exhaust tubes not something else), but definately check to make sure!

New header wrap will smoke like crazy for awhile...I put some on my motorbike's exhaust in the summer. It took a couple weeks to stop smoking completely.

I took the side pannels off and it is pouring outa that exhaust shield under the gas tank so it is from that. I think I may ride around in the field with the pannels off.
