Heat blanket upgrade.

Maybe put a rag over exhaust outlet and listen? It always worked on the donuts. Should almost stall sled also.

Is it really quiet? Just really worry about fire. I have come close myself in past and saw one go down way back. Really felt sorry for the owner and remember the look on his face watching it burn.
I think it's quieter than stock! I can hear every moving part in the motor, which is a problem when you actually know what is moving! LoL
I hear the sled behind me. It's actually nice on a long ride. Dave said the quite muffler robs a couple hp but I like the sound of it.

Just peak in behind the secondary. If you take it off you can see right in. And get on a few bolts.

Here's what happend. I used new gaskets from ulmer. They are not multi layer metal gaskets likes the stock ones. They require a retorque after being compressed and heated. I did torque them to spec

Thanks for clearing that up.
Wonder why ulmer is using that gasket???
that just seems like a complete pain in the #*$&@, and a potential for future problems.

Robs a few hp compared to stock mufflers? Or aftermarket mufflers?

im not going to crap on allen for using his gasket. when i spoke with him he said YA of course you retourque after a heat cycle. and hes right as an engine mechanic i always retorque anything i can thats exhaust.

but the multi layer metal gaskets are the way to go imo

I wasn't asking you to crap on him. LOL
Its a legitimate question
I am honestly wondering why he has chosen to go with a different gasket from stock.
I have honestly never heard or read of anyone having an issie the the engine to header gasket on any current yamaha sleds.
While i understand your retorque statements on exhaust, I have changed out a few myself using stock yamaha gaskets and never needed to go back in to retorque them. I guess im just one of the lucky ones??

No. like I said. The stock metal gaskets are the best for exhaust. I'm not sure if there's any benefit in the gaskets that came with the header.

I am also wondering and forgot to ask last time I called him. I have reused the stock header gasket at engine at least 4 times with no issue. Never had to retorque. Just wondering if I am missing something?
