Yes, if they get to a certain temperature they are supposed to shut down... not always though.

Glad to see you found your problem... What kind of studs you running and how long.. I believe it is a safety feature to shut it down if it gets to hot. If it sounds alright, then you should be good. Fixing the heat exchanger... If it was me, I would take the track off... I doudbt he can do a good job without getting in there right... I also would take it to a good aluminum welder before a rad shop...

I don't believe that the engine is supposed to shut down while riding. If it was idling on its' own and shut off, that's different, but not while riding.

Extreme
I overheated as well-don't know why as I'm holding pressure but my sled did shut down while riding?Oil tank was hot as hell. Can't be good for the life of this motor. Got me bummed too.
