Heat exchanger on 06 rage

I own a 06 rage w 20 mi on it, stock 1.25 track and 1.375 studs. the rear heat exchanger is getting hit by the studs, it looks like there is a protector for the exchanger from the factory. Anyone with any way to prevent going all the way through the exchanger would help a lot.

The stock protectors are useless. You could try riveting 1/2" stock aluminum to the existing protectors to increase the thickness.
