Hello everyone, just looking for a couple of tips. I am going to be installing the heat exchanger from the MTX on my new 2010 RTX today. I was hoping someone who had done the install could share some tips with me as to what I should watch out for, or anything that would make the install easier for me.
Thanks

just did mine very easy only problems I had was my buddy read to fast and skipped over the remove the tank section.but once that was figured out pretty easy just remember the rubber garments as it seems most of forget about them and if you do I just split them in half and installed them on the engine side took us about 1.5 hours

The direction are descent (colored pictures!) but here is a quick overview.

1)Remove seat

2)Remove tank

3)Drop rear of track (two bolts)

4)Remove right lower side panel

5)Unbolt oil tank and remove top vent hose (tank just needs to swing out of the way)

6)Drain coolant then remove the right side radiator hose (this hose is no longer used). The front heat exchanger end is hard to get at that's why the oil tank is moved. I used a coolant hose hook tool to loosen the hose before removing it.

7)Drill out the tunnel bulk head cover rivets and remove plate. The drill space is limited so a short 3/16 bit works best. I used a small grinder to remove the rivet heads.

8)Install the new hoses. Wet the ends with coolant to make them slide on easier. Make sure the the tee purge vent points up. Don't install the cap until after you fill with coolant.

9)Remove the rubber bulk head grommets then install the heat exchanger in the tunnel.

10)Place the rubbers back over the exchanger ports then connect hoses.

11)Button things up fill with coolant and check for leaks.

I think I hit on everything. Not a bad install.

another trick is when youve filled with antifreeze is to squeeze the new hoses a few times and keep filling the rad. that will get all the are out.

Hey guys, thanks for the tips. Install is complete. Took about 2 hours for full button up. Hopefully this stuff doesn't leak. Now lets get out and do some riding!!
