I'll be taking another look at it as well. I may rivet it back in place and see how that works. Too much ice gets jammed up in there and I think this is the problem. I will say this...when I changed to a 1.25" track I noticed more marks on my heat shield than I had with the stock track.

Treewhacker, I agree. The aluminum used is somewhat brittle, and in this application it is going to do the same thing time after time. I'm friends with my dealer for years, and I'm not even going to ask him to fix it. I was going to try to weld the cracks, and then put some type of high temp fiber washer in between with round head allen screws and locknuts (what's a few more ounces, right), but now I'm thinking of just trashing them. How hot can the track get at that point? It would only be hot when you are stopped, and if in any snow at all, I don't think it would be a problem. In one way, I don't care, as I hate that finger track. The sooner it fails, the sooner the wife will let me buy something else. With my luck, it'll last forever.

I was thinking the same thing. I think I'll take the shield off too. All they do is collect a LOT of ice & snow. I don't ride above freezing, so ambient temperatures will cool the pipes off fast enough when stopped (I hope). My track is 1-1/4, so its a bit closer than stock, but hey we all live on the edge, right?

 I just wanted to clarify my statement...the buying something else was just the track. Never the sled (Except for a Warrior maybe!)
