Huh. I was debating whether to remove the heating pad from my stock seat, or use aftermarket pad with the factory wiring on my new mountain seat.

I used a OEM pad from country cat on mountain seat conversion. Works perfect and no guess work for me.

I think that is the way. The aftermarket pads are 2 wire.

In hindsight, I should have bought a seat with the element installed, like from a X-TX LE.

Fairly high failure rate on oem pads. Wires break from flexing right at entrance into seat foam from top side. I've fixed lots of them.
I see now there's a supersceded part number for that pad that shows "high flex" wires! Gee, wonder why they did that?

Yeah, I just put in the new OEM pad with the High Flex wire. It's about time as I think this is my 3 or 4th replacement pad.

PIA to change pad! I did my own design change to prevent the problem when I went to install my 2nd pad which was only about 1000 miles on the sled. Terrible design from Cat engineering. How did they think it would last?! I made a plastic form to not allow wires to flex right where they usually break. Then. I changed the lead wires to special wires made for flexing millions of times without breaking.
