what is the best place to wire my heated shield?? I have it tapped into my dimmer wires now, but am having issues with fuses.. wondered where you guys were going.. thanks

ok that is great start... now I am an electrical moron so what do I use for wire if my piece is not long enough?? what kind of fuse do I use?? wattage? thanks for the patience !

Use number 16 stranded wire. Use a 5 amp fuse. You can wire the positive (RED wire) to the battery or battery jumper cable and the ground (black wire) can typically be picked up off a screw in the Delta Frame real close to the jumpers. Typically the positive is connected to the center conductor of the connectors.

thanks Len... I think this makes sense.. what kind of fuse will it be?? a glass tube like one?? I am thinking I will run it right off my battery (the pos) and ground out somewhere on the frame. will this drain my battery at all??

I use the spade type fuses (plug ins) that way I can always swipe one from the truck, if I have too. But, the cartridge fuses will work just fine too.

No this will not drain the battery, unless you leave the shield plugged in, which is not good for the shield. Used to be manufacturers claimed they would over-heat, if the shield was NOT having air pass by it. I have seen one of these do this once, years ago. Not sure if they still can over-heat. But I do not risk it.

YAM sells a HEATED FACE SHEILD plug in kit, it plugs in your DC outlet on the dash it works great here's the part #SMA-DCOUT-PL-UG

great idea apltxo8, but I do not have an accesory plug... my sled is an 04 warrior and they didnt come with it... is it that hard of a job to install a dc outlet??? much more work than I have to do already???

Just go to RADIO SHACK and buy a 12v for exterior use for about $10.00 and hook it up direct to battery with a in-line fuse of 5 amps

I installed mine on the oppesite side of the ignition on my '05 and worked great...theirs actully a spot for it you just have to use the proper hole saw size and install it...

thanks a bunch... I am thinking I will do this so I can run my cel phone etc in the event of a dead battery. thanks!

not happy with the yami adapter that goes in dc outlet.comes loose and disconnects while riding and pops fuzez way to often.going to hard wire it this season.
