Hey TY'ers
Please help
I purchased a Yamaha receptacle plug (part # ATV-12VPG-00-PL) to fit into my Vector outlet so I may use a heated shield. Now this unit requires a very simple wiring job to adapt the female SMA connector.
The problem is when I tried to use the shield it would blow the 3 amp fuse in the Vector. I metered out the harness from one end to the other and the center pin is the hot leg and the other ground as it should be.
Is there supposed to be a resistor in there for this type of application?
This plug was $ 9.00 compared to the $ 27.00 pre-made unit.
Please advise and thanks in advance!

I am powering a Garmin GPSmap60C GPS from the acc plug and my heated shield is on the same circuit. Been using a 5a fuse for 2 years now since the 3a blew.

Thanks action & 06,
I thought 3 amp was a little wimpy, the power plug comes with 10 amp.
I'll try a 5 and work up if need be.
