Anyone have experience with block heater for the Apex. I intstalled the yamaha coolant heater (SMA-HEATR-CL-NT) on my 03 RX-1, which worked fine. Just wondering if there was another type of heater that didn't require cutting into the coolant lines. To be honest I've only had to use a handful of times when below -10F. Couldn't find much under search. Thanks.

I was under the impression that you couldn't use a coolant heater on an Apex. Something about it messing up the fuel injection/timing. The engine thinks it is warm when it really isn't. Then again, what do I know?
Although I have not used it yet, my understanding is that the problems occur when these are plugged in for a very short time period. Overnight is said to be ok, because temperature evens out. We will see this winterthinksnow said:I was under the impression that you couldn't use a coolant heater on an Apex. Something about it messing up the fuel injection/timing. I have one on a 2006 attak in the same location as pictured above and used it maybe twice. Both times it was really cold out close to -30 to -40. She fired up fine and ran fine all day. I did leave the heater on all night though.

I have an 06 Attack and put one on when it was new. I have used it all the time, even -30 to -40 F and by leaving it on several hours before I wanted to start it, I have never had any issues. I recommend it to all.

MUSTANG1, I also have the coolant heater and i also put the pad like heater which i put under the oil tank, they use them for oil pans in car ect, keeps the oil warm
No point in putting under the block since there's not much oil in the block JMO,
They also come in different sizes for different needs, do a search on the net for oil pan heaters,
I've used them both in extreme cold in northern Ontario with no issues yet,

What is the red part above the heater in line with the coolant line?????
the red part is my tee for my temperaature gauge sender. It has NOTHING to do with the coolent heater. You would be looking at the lower part circled in purple
